Members Choice Awards – Best Football System 2018

During December we gave members of Honest Betting Reviews the chance to vote for their favourite betting systems of the year.

The first winner was announced last week with Profit Maximiser capturing the title of Best Matched Betting Service by a wide margin.

Now it is the turn of the Best Football System and this was a close run thing with a number of runners getting a high amount of votes.

In a tie for third place were Football Advisor and Banker Bets, two popular long-running services which both gathered around 10% of the votes.

In second place was the respected Chloe’s Football Focus, which racked up a very nice 83 points profit in 2018 and was well deserving of the runners-up spot.

So which service grabbed the top spot?

Well the service in question has won quite a few other awards so it’s probably not too much of a surprise that it won our award for Best Football System too.

Yes, the winner was the hugely popular football trading service Goal Profits!

A big congratulations to the whole team at Goal Profits then for scooping yet another award.

And to celebrate the win, the great news is that they are offering a huge discount to join their service so you can get the first week for just £2.49!

That’s great value for a service that’s so popular with hundreds of football traders.

Here is what Steve Brown from Goal Profits had to say on receiving the award:

Thanks Dan and thank you to all of your members who voted for Goal Profits. This is fantastic news! We especially enjoy winning awards which are voted for, rather than randomly handed out. This is our third award win in 2018 alone and it spurs us on to create even better learning resources and trading tools for all of our members.

During the summer, we launched our Live Trading Module and it has been a massive hit! It tracks in-play stats, identifies which teams are actively trying to score, provides trade alerts and much more. We have plenty of new features planned for 2019 and work has already begun on the first of them.

Our 16-week ‘Launchpad’ football trading course was fully updated this year too. All members have full access to Launchpad from day one plus, of course, unlimited support by email, on the forum and in the live trading chat room. We’ve even brought a new team member whose job is to make sure that Goal Profits members receive any help they need as quickly as possible. We’re fully committed to helping as many members as possible reach their trading goals, whether it’s a full-time career or just a steady second income.

As always, there’s plenty to keep us busy as we constantly improve and innovate. Thank you again to everyone who voted and we look forward to trading with you soon!

So there you have it, well done to Steve and the team at Goal Profits for the win and we hope to take another look at the service ourselves over the coming months.

Tradescape – A Trading Revolution

If we said there was a fully automatic horse trading system which selects the horses, places the bets and then lays them locking in the profit and has made over £800.00 per month without you lifting a finger, would it interest you?

Well there is something just like this and it’s called “TradeScape”

Using advanced proven mathematical algorithms TradeScape identifies steamers in the market, then using a unique Auto Bet Technology, places the bet at the bookie offering the highest odds, and at the right time lays on Betfair locking in pure profit.

It’s Trading but not as you know it.

The team behind the software have been developing TradeScape and the Auto Bet Technologies for over 18 months and the system is now in live testing mode.

Below are the results since going live based on £50.00 bets over 42 days making a total of 871 bets and a profit of £3,319.

If you would like to know more, they are holding a free webinar explaining what Tradescape is all about and how you can become a beta tester.

The webinar will be held on 3rd January 2019 at 19.30 GMT.

You can sign up for the free webinar here.

This is the first time we have seen software that can place bets automatically both at the bookies and betfair.

We think it heralds a revolution in trading and is a very exciting development.

So don’t miss out on finding out about Tradescape – places will be limited and on a first-come-first-served basis.

Members’ Choice Awards – Best Matched Betting Service 2018

We hope you had a great Christmas and are enjoying the festive period.

As the year draws to a close, we are running a series of awards for the Best Betting Systems and Tipsters of 2018.

The difference this year though is that the awards have been voted for by you – the members of Honest Betting Reviews.

The voting has now closed and thank you very much to those who voted – it’s been great to see so many of you taking part.

Looking at the results, it’s interesting to see that quite a few of the winners tallied with our own views – but there were some surprises in there too.

So turning to the awards themselves, we will be announcing the winners in each category separately.

First up, we have the award for Best Matched Betting Service of 2018.

For those of you not familiar with it, matched betting is the process of using the bookies’ free bets and bonuses to set up risk-free (or low-risk) betting opportunities to make a long-term profit.

It’s become very popular over the last few years and some people have even turned it into a full-time profession.

Not surprisingly, a number of different matched betting services have sprung up in recent times too, providing complete packages for wannabe matched bettors.

It’s become quite a competitive field, with services offering great features like video tutorials, live matched betting software so you can see opportunities in real time, calendars with all the daily offers and calculators so you can work out the stakes to place.

Voting Results

We know lots of you are keen matched bettors and this would be a popular category in our betting awards.

So how did the voting go?

Well it turned out there was actually a runaway winner that blew away the rest of the competition, receiving more than three times the number of votes of the runner-up, with over 40% of the vote. The next best received just 10% of the vote.

Yes it was no contest really.

And the winner was…

Drum roll please…

Profit Maximiser!

A hearty congratulations to Profit Maximiser and a well-deserved winner.

Profit Maximiser is run by Mike Cruickshank, known as the doyen of matched betting and it’s clear lots of you love his service.

You can read our original review of it here.

Here is what Mike said when we informed him of the award:

“Awesome News, I’m made up. Thanks to all the Honest Betting Reviews members who voted.

Profit Maximiser has been running since 2013 yet we are still finding new edges to exploit all the time.

I can’t take all the credit for this award. We have a lot of helpful forum users who share offers and strategies. It helps turn a good product in to an amazing one.

Over the next 12 months I plan on increasing the amount of strategies and offers on the Profit Maximiser site to give my clients more opportunities to profit.”

As Mike alludes to, much of the appeal of the service is its large and active membership who contribute via forums such as the Profit Maximiser Facebook group, which has over 50,000 members and is where people share the latest offers and the best ways of exploiting them.

You can see on the group some of amazing amounts of money people have made from matched betting, with £10,000+ totals regularly posted.

And the great news is that if you aren’t already a member of Profit Maximiser, you can get a 14 day trial for just £1 here.

So you can join all those very happy members who have been using it to make great profits!

[Please note that Profit Maximiser relies on using bookies’ free bets and bonuses, so if these are not available in your country then its effectiveness will be limited].

Well done to Profit Maximiser then on winning the Best Matched Betting Service of 2018. We will be announcing the next award winner shortly.

Does Brain Power Have Champion Hurdle Case After International Success?

Brain Power is one of the more enigmatic horses in British champion jumps trainer Nicky Henderson’s stable.

After landing a couple of top-class handicaps over hurdles in 2016-17, even bigger things were expected of the seven-year-old Kalanisi gelding out of an Old Vic mare when he went chasing.

Although Brain Power could not have been more impressive on his debut over fences at Kempton last season, nothing has gone right for him in that sphere since.

He failed to complete in the Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown and then again when stepping into open company for the Clarence House at Ascot in January.

Brain Power was then ridden to pick up the pieces in the Arkle Challenge Trophy at last year’s Cheltenham Festival after Petit Mouchoir and Saint Calvados set a breakneck gallop they just couldn’t maintain up front.

He passed those exhausted rivals one by one, nabbing the runner-up prize behind hot betting favourite Footpad, but posed absolutely no threat whatsoever to the impressive winner.

Another fall at Aintree ended a disappointing campaign for Brain Power and his seasonal comeback in the Shloer Chase back at Cheltenham in November saw him finish a well-beaten fourth.

At that point, owner Michael Buckley reportedly told Henderson to take his horse back over hurdles and that proved to be an inspired decision.

Brain Power found the winning groove again in the International Hurdle – a key trial for the Champion Hurdle – when coming with a strong run to lead turning for home and running clear up the Cheltenham hill.

Many have been quick to dismiss this form, highlighting it was a poor renewal of the race and that there is a lack of top two-mile hurdlers around in National Hunt horse racing at the moment.

Bookmakers Paddy Power reacted to Brain Power’s cosy 1 3/4 lengths victory over Silver Streak with a 14/1 quote in the latest Cheltenham horse racing futures betting on the 2019 Champion Hurdle.

He has beaten an improving young hurdler who – like Brain Power himself just a couple of years ago – has caught the eye in top-class handicap hurdle races.

Henderson can also call on dual Champion Hurdle winner Buveur D’Air, who is a short-price red-hot favourite with oddsmakers to make it three consecutive wins and emulate legendary past stable star See You Then.

With his regular second string for the race My Tent Or Yours recently retired alongside Nigel Twiston-Davies trained contemporary The New One, Brain Power is now a legitimate hand Henderson could play come the Cheltenham Festival.

Summerville Boy, the gutsy winner of the 2018 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, has been out of sorts in two runs this season – including when last of the seven to finish in the International behind Brain Power.

The leading Irish contender for the Champion Hurdle is now unbeaten mare Laurina for Willie Mullins, with Samcro getting easily outclassed by Buveur D’Air in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle.

For all the naysayers who argue Brain Power is better suited by a flat racetrack and running clockwise, there really is a lack of opposition to the favourite.

Value bets lie in the each-way or win or place futures market, then, and for all he needs to reproduce the International form to demonstrate it wasn’t just a good piece of race placement by connections, Brain Power fits the bill simply because other rivals have as much or more to prove.

Great News For Punters as Bet Victor Offers £500 Bet Guarantee

There was positive news for long-suffering punters recently when Bet Victor announced it would be allowing all customers to win up to £500 per bet on UK and Irish horse racing.

That makes Bet Victor the first major bookmaker to offer a comprehensive bet guarantee covering all UK and Irish horse races, regardless of grade and it covers each-way bets as well.

For years punters have suffered from bookies restricting winning accounts (and even some that aren’t winning), only allowing customers to place minimal bets of £1 or £2 per race.

This is tantamount to closing an account and has left many punters angry and frustrated – often turning to exchanges like Betfair to place their bets instead of the bookies.

It also led to mounting pressure from government, regulators and groups such as the Horseracing Bettors Forum to ease restrictions on punters and provide a fair playing field.

Thankfully some of the bookies have started listening to this pressure and begun to loosen their restrictions, for horse racing at least.

Moves in the Right Direction

A small effort had already been made to move in the right direction prior to Bet Victor’s recent announcement, with Coral and Ladbrokes having guaranteed to lay the following wagers:

  • – Bets to win up to £5,000 on all races broadcast on UK television channel ITV, from 9am on the morning of the race.
  • – Bets to win up to £2,000 on Class 4 or above handicaps
  • – Bets to win up to £2,000 on any Listed, Group and Graded from 11am.
  • – Bets to win up to £500 on any other British or Irish race (i.e. similar to the recent Bet Victor move).
  • – Bets to win up to £5,000 for wagers placed in betting shops on all ITV Racing events.

William Hill has also guaranteed the last point and has extended it to online customers too, albeit with a maximum potential win of £1,000 and only for races shown on ITV.

It should be stressed that the bookies may of course allow you to win more than these amounts – it is just that these are the amounts the bookies are guaranteeing they will lay wagers for, rather than only allowing you to able to bet say £1 or £2, as has been the case for those with restricted accounts up until now.

Bet Victor Move Points Towards the Future

The Bet Victor £500 guarantee offer opens at 11am on the day of the race, and features as a separate Guaranteed Bet market alongside other normal markets so punters can find it easily.

Whilst this is the first blanket guarantee to allow punters to win up to a certain amount on all UK and Irish racing, Bet Victor have indicated that it may not end there.

Matt Scarrott, Director of BetVictor’s Sportsbook, said:

“We entered dialogue with the Horseracing Bettors Forum earlier this year and this project is something we have been keen to implement for a while. We believe our guarantee to include ‘each way’ bets and all race classes makes it a leading industry initiative.”

“Once we have trialled Guaranteed Bet for a short time, our plan is to review it with the intention of increasing limits and extending the timescales going forward.”

This would be welcome news and it will be interesting to see if more bookies follow suit. Certainly those bookies who have implemented bet guarantees have stolen a march on their competitors and will no doubt see the return of many customers who have had their accounts restricted previously.

It is unclear however with bookies would still restrict accounts of those who arb or match bet, so we will have to wait and see on that one.

It should also be noted that Bet Victor’s £500 Bet Guarantee Offer does not apply to Best Odds Guaranteed, Run for Your Money, and additional ‘each way’ place term offers.

Moving Into Other Sports?

One of the major questions regarding the recent changes is whether they will start to apply to other sports beyond horse racing.

We haven’t seen clear indications from the bookmakers on that front, but you would think if it proves successful on horse racing and they can manage their liabilities, then there is no reason why it shouldn’t be applied to other sports.

Personally we would like to see it spread to other sports like golf, football and tennis – and eventually to cover all sports.

After all, the practice of restricting winning accounts is grossly unfair and there must be a happy medium bookmakers can come to that allow punters to have a decent punt without threatening the bookies’ business model.  Let’s not forget that only 2% of punters make money long-term, so really it should be possible.

The recent moves to set reasonable limits of how much people can win on horse racing are surely recognition of this and are greatly welcomed.

Let’s hope this is just the start of things to come…

The Most Popular Table Games in Vegas

The Tables have Turned on Las Vegas…

Once upon a time it seemed as though Sin City could do nothing but make an absolute goldmine day after day and year after year… with many never seeing an end to the riches flying through the door. If we’re honest, Vegas still makes an absolute fortune but something that might be about to change, or has already started to change, is where that money comes from.

Whilst the old ladies sat on the one-armed-bandits aren’t likely to be swayed by the internet’s offering of online slots, many millennials have shunned the city in favour of squandering their money online. This has seen the once famous green felt of Las Vegas’ casinos pretty undisturbed.

The stats don’t lie, whilst we aren’t going to shed a tear that Vegas is only making $900 million on Blackjack per year, we decided to put together an infographic that shows just how much the famous strip is changing, below.

Marmelo and Magic Circle Have Melbourne Cup Credentials

Rekindling triumphed at the 2017 Melbourne Cup and will have his sights set on a repeat triumph at the event at Flemington Racecourse in November. Withhold has been established as the leading contender to knock him off his perch, although there are others in contention for the victory. Two horses that will be leading the charge to compete at the race are Magic Circle and Marmelo. The former should provide interest as Corey Brown, who rode Rekindling to victory last year, has chosen to ride the Irish horse for the event, taking the reins from Fran Berry.

Marmelo’s credentials have seen him backed to win the race, given his strong form in the 2018 campaign. The five-year-old has won two of his three races, which has shortened his odds for the meet. Whether he will be able to raise the level of his game for the event is another matter. Withhold has the strongest odds for the event, with the best price available at 14/1 in terms of value. His odds are narrower among other bookmakers, highlighting the quality of the leading competitor. As a result, to gain better value, starting with Marmelo. Hughie Morrison’s charge has value at 14/1 with CrownBet in the Melbourne Cup betting 2018 odds, although, due to the strength of the field, it’s worth considering other options.

A Dominant Horse

Magic Circle has been in equally good form and has stronger value at odds in the 20/1 range, which is a good price considering his form. Should he race again before the event, there could be a fall in value, therefore, it could be a good time to put down a punt. He has the rider with experience, although Glen Boss was the last jockey to win in successive years. There’s a lot to consider before putting in a measured punt. The Irish horse does have form in the 2018 season, beginning at the Chester Cup Handicap. He was considered the outside contender for the race but produced a fine display. The six-year-old tracked the leaders before making a move two furlongs out. Magic Circle was dominant down the stretch to close out the victory by six lengths.

Ian Williams’ charge backed up his performance with a stronger outing at the Henry II Stakes. He faced a tougher field of opposition, including the favourite, Weekender. However, Magic Circle rose to the occasion once again to deliver a brilliant finish, surging down the stretch to claim the victory once again by six lengths. The six-year-old has the speed in the closing stages that could be very intriguing at Flemington.

Marmelo began his campaign at Longchamp in the Prix Vicomtesse Vigier. He was solid on the track, although he lacked the pace to beat out the favourite Vazirabad for the victory. Morrison’s charge faced off against Weekender among others in his next outing at York in the Grand Cup Stakes.

Ryan Moore was in the saddle and kept the horse on pace in the early stages, tracking the leading group. He made the charge in the final two furlongs of the meet, using his pace to edge ahead of his rivals. He just had the speed in the closing stages to defeat Weekender by a neck. Marmelo proved his quality once again with another victory in the Nieuil Group 2 Stakes on his return to Longchamp. Due to their form in the 2018 season backing either Marmelo and Magic Circle outside of the favourite Withhold could be a worthy punt given their history of upsetting leading contenders.

Winning at Online Casinos

The summer season usually witnesses the number of online casino players dwindle as people seek to find entertainment outside in the sun rather than indoors. Fortunately, this means that online casinos are eager to attract new players during the summer months. Various online casinos will advertise special signup offers and bonuses to customers in order to entice them to play, these offers can be a fantastic way to kick start a successful period of winning at online casinos.

Of course, there are a variety of online casinos out there offering you the option to play your favourite casino games with them, so it is important to separate the mediocre ones from the outstanding ones. Of course, there are a number of good and trustworthy websites out there which offer players honest casino reviews.

Different casinos specialise in different casino games, so if you’re a blackjack player it is important for you to find a casino which offers good bonuses on blackjack games. Furthermore, some online casinos only offer the usual casino games – roulette, blackjack, slots and poker – whereas you might be looking for something more niche such as backgammon or online keno. It is vital for you to find the right online casino for you in order to best maximize your profits.

Play the Correct Casino Games

If your preference is simply making as much money as possible (why else would you be here) then blackjack is the casino game that will most likely offer you the greatest chance of winning. When it comes to blackjack, the house has an edge of just 1% in most casinos, whereas high variance games such as slots give the house an edge of between 2% and 15%, usually. Blackjack is also considered a skill game; it is nowhere near as luck based as roulette or slots are. As long as you have knowledge of the game in question, skill games are almost always more profitable than luck based games are.

So, when it comes to winning at an online casino, it is best to build up your knowledge on one specific game – preferably a skill based game such as blackjack. When it comes to casino games, knowledge is power, the more knowledge you have the more likely you are to be profitable.

Play Within Your Bankroll

Bankroll management is a key aspect of whether you become a winning online casino player or a losing one. Although we advise you to focus on primarily skill based casino games, there will always be an element of luck involved. Therefore, it is an extremely high risk strategy and unintelligent decision making to ever risk all of your deposit money on one spin of the roulette wheel or on one hand of blackjack. Instead, you need to ensure that variance does not come into play and you are responsible with your money.

If you want to bet £5 per hand on the online blackjack table, it is best to have a bankroll of at least £500 to ensure that a stroke of bad luck does not wipe you out. If you are a poker player, then you will know just how important strong bank roll management is. Variance is such a large part of poker so to not have bank roll management is the first step to losing your money.

Never Tilt

One sure fire way to lose to an online casino is by playing when you are angry and not thinking straight. For many casino players, one average loss can quickly lead to several big losses. Just remember that it is inevitable that you will lose eventually, no matter what casino game you are playing. So when you do lose, ensure that you take it with a pinch of salt. Don’t go stupidly trying to win your money back by making silly decisions. When it comes to casino games, the house always has a slight advantage so don’t give them anymore of an advantage by playing when you’re not in full control of your emotions.

Being a long term winner at an online casino is a difficult thing to achieve, but nothing that is worthwhile is easy. Just ensure to study your choice of game thoroughly in order to find the shortcuts. Always play within your bankroll – you don’t want to lose all your money due to variance. And never lose your cool, losses are inevitable but if you keep your losses to a minimum whilst making the most out of your winning sessions, then you are on the path to winning at online casinos.
