The Premier League continues to provide an incredible spectacle for fans around the World with viewing figures continuing to grow. This comes as no surprise with the talent on show and the competitive nature of the league in comparison to others where the same teams continue to win the league each year. A key example of this being Celtic in Scotland and of course the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus in Germany and Italy respectively.

A clear example of this in the Premier League is when Leicester did the unthinkable in landing the title back in the 2015/16 season when they had started the season as odds-on for relegation. A truly incredible result for sports fans around the world, showing that the underdog can triumph on occasions through hard work, dedication and of course a little bit of luck!

So looking back through the years one player than certainly will be remembered for years to come is the great Alan Shearer, who is still sitting head and shoulders above all in the all-time leading goal scorer charts of the Premier League. His incredible haul of 260 league goals means he is clear with the only two active players being Wayne Rooney and Jermain Defoe in touching distance. It will take something very, very special from either of them to surpass Shearer with them sitting on 208 and 162 goals currently. Shearer will continue to go down as one of the top strikers to grace the league with legends in behind such as Thierry Henry and Michael Owen.

So how well do you think you know Shearer and footballing records on a whole? Check out the quiz below to test your footballing knowledge!
