Bob Rothman – Betting’s £3 Million Man
Bob Rothman is a professional gambler and horse racing tipster who claims to have made over £3 million from his betting.
Studying accounting and finance at university, Rothman started out working at Price Waterhouse Coopers before moving into computing work. However, Rothman longed for more excitement and the thrill of betting on the geegeez quickly attracted him to the Sport of Kings.
He was inspired by the legendary figure of Yorkshireman John Gough, one of the most famous early professional gamblers.
In order to develop his skills, Rothman joined up with oddsmaker and handicapping specialist Angus Hill. A professional bettor himself, Hill helped Rothman to hone his talents and build the network of contacts necessary to be successful in the tough world of gambling for a living, as well as understanding money management.
After losing over £35,000 in his first year of professional gambling, Rothman quickly learned from his mistakes and started turning a profit of £400,000 from his second year onwards.
In his most successful moments, Rothman claims to have made more than £100,000 in a single day, quite astonishing stuff.
The problem for Rothman though, as is the case for so many successful gamblers, is that the bookies started closing his accounts once he was winning substantial amounts. He then had to turn to using family and friend’s accounts, but even those were shut down in fairly short order.
Rothman even reports that some accounts have been closed down before a bet has even been settled – although it might have been due to his staking over £2,000 on 14-1 shots that got the bookies worried in some instances.
Bob now runs his own website at horseracingpro.co.uk out of his home in Cobham, Surrey, where he provides his professional horse racing tips through a paid subscription service.
Commenting on running a tipping site, Rothman claims it is slightly different to betting yourself, with the need for finding winners almost as important as finding value. He states that people would leave the service if there weren’t a reasonably steady stream of winners.
For the year to date, Bob claims to have made over £12,000 profit to £200 stakes, which is pretty strong going if accurate.
Bob has been in the horse racing business for over 30 years and in that time has built an impressive list of contacts within the industry.
Using the information he receives, Rothman says he then analyses the information, using speed and form figures which can take up to 14 hours in some cases.
After this thorough analysis, Bob then passes the tips on to his group of VIP subscribers.
At the time of writing, his membership is full but we have put our name down on the waiting list and hopefully when a spot opens up we can launch a proper trial of Bob Rothman racing here on the site.
Who knows, maybe we can start to emulate the exploits of the £3 million man…
