Raid The Sand Syndicate – New Review

We are starting a new review today of a horse racing service called Raid The Sand Syndicate

This comes from the Matthew Walton stable of tipsters, which has provided us with such luminaries as the Golf Insider, Racing Intelligence and the Irish Cash Consortium, all of which have passed reviews here at HBR.

Matthew has a keen eye for tipping talent so we always take note when he brings another tipster in to his stable.

Raid The Sand Syndicate is an all-weather specialist who has over 20 years experience of picking horse racing winners.

The return on investment (ROI) since the service started is apparently over 25% which is very impressive.

Equally noteworthy is the strike rate, which stands at 40% to date.

So the combined stats for ROI and strike rate would make this a very strong performer if they could be repeated in the long run.

As ever we will reserve judgement until our review is completed, but given Mr Walton’s history of picking top-class tipping talent we are hopeful at least this one might be a goodun’.

We started receiving tips on 3rd June so we will record results from then. Inevitably with it being the summer, most flat horse racing is on the turf rather than the dirt so the action will be a little light until the all-weather season kicks in again in the autumn.

We will continue recording results anyway for the tips that are posted and will update things here as we go along.

In the meantime you can check out Raid The Sand Syndicate for yourself here.

Andy Holding Tips – Results Update

The good times just keep rollin’ along for Oddschecker Plus tipster Andy Holding, with a profit of 41 points made at advised prices since our last update.

That means he is now a phenomenal 287 points up at advised prices for our trial overall.

You can view full results here.

It’s also been an excellent run for Andy at Betfair SP, with a profit of 51 points made at BSP since our last update and 194 points profit made for our trial to date at BSP.

We’re running out of superlatives to describe these tips but probably the thing we’ve been most impressed with during our trial is the consistency. It’s just been month after month of profit pretty much the whole way through.

Just a note to say these tips are only available via the Oddschecker Plus service, which comes with a range of other features and tipsters in addition to Andy Holding’s tips.

The results at Betfair SP have been good too but remain well behind those at advised prices, with a profit of 16 points made at BSP since our last update and 64 points profit made for our trial to date at BSP.

This has been one of the best trials we’ve run in any sport for quite some time. It’s just been solid profit all the way through, so consistent. And it comes off years of sustained profits for Andy. Really top notch stuff.

Just a note to say these tips are only available via the Oddschecker Plus service, which comes with a range of other features and tipsters in addition to Andy Holding’s tips. To be honest though the subscription is probably worth it just for Andy’s tips. 🙂

Andy Holding Tips – Results Update

13th February 2025

It’s all been plain sailing for Oddschecker Plus tipster Andy Holding in our trial and he has sealed yet more gains over the last month, with a profit of 26 points made at advised prices since our last update.

That means he is now 131 points up at advised prices for our trial overall.

You can view full results here.

The results at Betfair SP have been solid but remain well behind those at advised prices, with a profit of 9 points made at BSP since our last update and 48 points profit made for our trial to date at BSP.

So it looks like using Betfair SP could be a viable option for this service, but the profits will be considerably less than those achieved at advised prices.

Andy Holding Tips – Results Update

1oth December 2024

Horse racing service Oddschecker Plus tipster Andy Holding continues to move along nicely, with a profit of 5 points made at advised prices since our last update.

That means he is now 77 points up at advised prices for our trial overall.

You can view full results here.

The results at Betfair SP have dropped quite a bit behind the results at advised prices however, with a loss of 27 points made at BSP since our last update, putting Andy 28 points up for our trial to date at BSP.

Just a note that on the results spreadsheet we are also recording the “Price Available” in column E.

This is usually around 11-12 in the morning, so a good couple of hours or so after tips are released.

Sometimes the odds do rebound by this time and liquidity is good in the markets by late morning, so it seems like a good time to note the available prices.

Andy Holding Tips – Results Update

1st November 2024

It’s been an excellent start to our trial of Oddschecker Plus tipster Andy Holding, with a profit of 72 points made so far at advised prices.

You can view full results here.

The results at Betfair SP have held up pretty well too, with a profit of 55 points made for our trial to date at BSP.

The pattern here – which we often see with popular services – is the outsiders sometimes go off at a higher BSP than the advised odds, whereas the shorter odds selections tend to get backed in.

For example, Carrytheone at Ascot which was advised at 11/1 and went off a BSP of 20 and Marakova at Longchamp was advised at 16/1 and went off a BSP of 20.81.

In any event, when all is said and done the BSP results have held up solidly when you consider how heavily the tips tend to be initially backed.

So if you are struggling to get the advised prices with the bookies, just going for the BSP could be an option.

Just an additional note that Andy was on holiday from 24th October to 1st November, hence why there are no tips recorded for that period.

Andy Holding Tips – New Review

1st October 2024

We are starting a new review today of a horse racing tipster called Andy Holding

Andy is quite a big name in the tipping business and is one of the resident horse racing tipsters at Oddschecker.

He also has his own speed ratings site but this review will be of his tips at Oddschecker.

According to the Oddschecker website, Andy made an average of 137 points profit per year from 2018-2023.

There is no breakdown of this on a yearly basis other than a profit of +34.96 points made in 2023, nor a full results spreadsheet, but those are very good headline numbers in any event.

Andy developed a love of horse racing at an early age and become a professional bettor at around age 30.

He is so highly regarded by his peers that he’s apparently often referred to as “The pundit’s pundit.”

Andy is a frequent commentator on William Hill Radio, where listeners have come to rely on his vast knowledge of the form book.

Andy also creates his own speed figures and sectional times for all UK and Irish races, both Flat and Jumps, which as mentioned can be accessed via his own site.

His Oddschecker tips are available as part of the “Oddschecker Premium Service”, which costs £19.99 per month.

As one of the most popular tipsters in the UK we are looking forward to trialing Andy’s service and in particular to see how his prices hold up.

We will get the review underway today then and will report back here soon on how things are going.

In the meantime you can check out Oddschecker Plus tipster Andy Holding for yourself here.

Renegade Racing – New Review

We are starting a new review today of a service called Renegade Racing.

This is a horse racing tipster from the Betting Gods stable of tipsters and although it has only been going a short time, has caused quite a stir in the tipping community.

The results since starting up in November last year have been stellar, with a profit of 54 points made to date.

That has been achieved with exceptional stats of a 36% ROI and 62% strike rate.

Those metrics are pretty outstanding and will be hard to maintain in the long run – although anything even vaguely close to those will still be very impressive.

Follow the service at Betfair SP and you would have boosted the profits by a further 55% so far. We are interested to see if that continues during our trial.

The service has been on red hot form since launch, with 26 of the last 35 bets having won.

We haven’t seen a tipster start off this well for quite some time.

However, it’s important not to get too carried away with these promising early results and to see how the service performs over the next few months under live trial conditions.

So we will get things underway today and will include results from 14th February when we started receiving tips.

We will update things here as we go along as usual.

In the meantime you can check out Renegade Racing for yourself here.

Outside Rides – Results Update

UPDATE – Please note this service has been put on hold. We will pause our review here and look to pick things up again if the service recommences.

Outside Rides – Results Update

5th August 2024

It continues to be somewhat of a struggle for horse racing service Outside Rides, with a loss of 28 points made to advised prices since our last update.

That means they are now 44 points down for our trial overall at advised prices.

You can view full results here.

It’s a similar story at Betfair SP, with a loss of 29 points made since our last update and 52 points lost for our trial overall at BSP.

Just a reminder, this is service that is based on a theory around top jockeys and small yards. Tips are delivered via the Telegram app to be backed either with the bookies or on Betfair.

A tough start so far but hopefully they can turn things around soon.

Outside Rides – Results Update

1st July 2024

It’s been a bit of a slow start to our trial of horse racing service Outside Rides, with a loss of 16 points made so far to advised prices.

You can view full results here.

It’s a similar story at Betfair SP, with a loss of 23 points made for our trial to date.

Just a reminder, this is service that is based on a theory around top jockeys and small yards. Tips are delivered via the Telegram app to be backed either with the bookies or on Betfair.

So not the ideal start here but still early days and plenty of time to turn things around.

Outside Rides – New Review

8th May 2024

We are starting a new trial today of a horse racing service called Outside Rides.

This is a relatively new service that is based on a theory around top jockeys and small yards.

The idea is that because small racing stables don’t get much access to top jockeys compared to the bigger, more wealthy stables, they offer those jockeys their best horses in an effort to secure their services over the long term.

Outside Rides is focused on flat racing and has been live for just over a year now and has made a little over 50 points profit so far.

That has come at a return on investment of around 8%, which is a solid enough return.

At Betfair SP the results have been pretty decent too, with a profit of 38 points made to date at an ROI of just under 6%

Their backtested results look very impressive with a reported 1700 points profit made from the system.

However, we don’t normally put much store in backtested results as we have seen plenty of examples of backtested results that look great on paper but then when they go live fail to deliver the goods. Ultimately only live, proofed results carry any weight.

Anyway, it looks like a promising service and we are always interested in new or innovative betting theories so let’s see how this one gets on under a live trial.

It operates on a “pay as you win” model which is good so no expensive subscription fees to pay if the service isn’t making a positive return.

We’ll update results here as always so you can see how they are progressing.

In the meantime you can check out Outside Rides for yourself here.

Each Way Tips – Results Update

It’s been a solid start to our trial of horse racing tipster Each Way Tips, with a profit of 5 points made to advised prices after two months.

You can view full results here.

It’s a similar story at Betfair SP, with a profit of 6 points made for our trial to date.

A simple staking system of one point each-way on every selection is used, which we like to see.

In any event, a solid start here for them to build on going forward.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Each Way Tips – New Review

6th July 2023

We are starting a new trial today of a service called Each Way Tips from the Phil Rushton stable of tipsters.

This is a service that has been going since 2019 and in that time has made over 370 points profit

That has been achieved with a good strike rate of 40% and a solid return on investment (ROI) of 12%

As the name of the service suggests, all bets are each-way bets and are on UK and Irish racing.

The staking is a simple one point each-way on each selection and there are just one or two bets per day on average, making it a straightforward service to follow.

The tips are supplied by a guy called Pete Thompson who has been a professional tipster for over 3 years and has been betting on horses for 15 years.

His other betting service Racing Wins has been going for a number of years and has also produced decent profits.

Pete focuses on finding value at prices of 4/1 and above and only selects a horse if he is sure it has a strong chance of winning or placing.

We often say here at HBR that the crucial factor we look for in tipsters is their longevity – their ability to make a profit over an extended period of time – so it is good to see this service has been running for nearly four years now.

Whether it can continue performing well we will find out in our trial but the signs are promising at least.

We started receiving tips on 1st July so will record results from then. Progress will be updated here as we go along as usual.

In the meantime you can check out Each Way Tips for yourself here.

Expo Bot

Expo Bot – Results Update

It’s been a tough run over the last month for the Expo Bot, with a loss of 237 points for the Auto Dutch system since our last update.

That puts the Auto Dutch system 284 points down for our trial overall.

You can view full results here.

The big news however – which is hot off the press – is that Expo Bot is moving to the cloud rather than being operated on a desktop.

This in our view will be a big improvement and will mean everything will be fully automatic rather than having to set up a VPS (or have your PC running all day), download a desktop app, install updates to the software, check for bugs if it isn’t working properly etc. All of that will now be handled remotely on the cloud, so a much simpler customer experience.

The Auto Dutch system is also being paused for now and is scheduled to resume running on the cloud in September, which will contain enhanced performance filters. They say they have enough data accumulated now to bring this to final version in the next update.

So in terms of this review, we will call it a day for now and say that this was unfortunately heading for a failed rating based on the results achieved to date. We will commence a new review once the new cloud software with the new parameters launches, which will hopefully not only be really simple to operate but produce better results as well.

This new version of the Expo Bot is also due to have football trading added to it, so we will include that in our review when it is available later this year.

So that’s it for this review for now but we look forward to seeing the relaunch in September.

Expo Bot – Results Update

8th July 2019

A bit of a recovery for the Expo Bot lately, with a profit of 95 points for the Auto Dutch system since our last update.

That means the Auto Dutch is now 47 points down for our trial overall.

You can view full results here.

We missed a couple of days of bets with the bot not working for one reason or another. The problem may well have been at our end with not having downloaded the latest version but we couldn’t be sure. There are still a few teething problems as the bot gets puts through its paces but hopefully over the next couple of months these issues will all be ironed out.

They have made an adjustment to the Auto Dutch system, removing Mondays from betting days which would have considerably improved the results so far and makes sense given that Mondays are often poor in terms of the quality of racing.

As mentioned last time we stopped proofing the in-play betting system as it is being completely revamped.

Anyway, good to see the recent recovery for the Auto Dutch and let’s hope it continues.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Expo Bot – Results Update

11th June 2019

The tough run has continued for the Expo Bot unfortunately, with a further 11 points lost since our last update.

That means the Bot is now 35 points down for our trial overall (or £350 down to £10 stakes).

You can view full results here

We have stopped monitoring the In-Play Betting System as they are completely overhauling it and pretty much starting from scratch, so there didn’t seem much point continuing following a version of something that isn’t going to be used going forward.

In terms of the Auto-Dutch system, it has also been a rough spell lately. We are operating it continuously over the evening rather than on a stop-at-a-profit basis. If you had been using the latter you would be 7 points down over the period of our review rather than the 14 points down we are from letting it run. That is to be expected really given that you would be betting in fewer races.

In the grand scheme of things the losses aren’t too bad and represent just 14% of the advised betting bank, but we had been hoping for more from this system so it is a little disappointing.

It is important to remember at the same time that everything is still in beta testing mode at the moment so this is just the beginning for Exponential Bet and they have got a number of promising things in development so let’s see how they progress over the coming weeks and months.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Expo Bot – Results Update

8th May 2019

It’s been a bit of a rough ride lately for the Expo Bot, with 18 points lost since our last update a month ago.

That means they are now 24 points down for our trial overall (or £240 down at the £10 stakes we are using) for the two systems – the In-Play trading and Auto-Dutch systems.

You can view full results here (please note there are two tabs on the spreadsheet for the two systems).

However, that doesn’t really tell the whole story as it is the In-Play system that has really been struggling, losing 21 points so far, whilst the Auto Dutch has been doing ok.

To be fair the In-Play system is still in beta mode and Ryan who runs the service is working on some changes to the process which should improve results.

In the meantime we would recommend putting it on hold if you are running this system until the new changes have been introduced and bedded in. We will still record results of course because that is what a live trial is all about, but Ryan has been clear from the outset that this was in beta mode so results could be volatile whilst he finds the optimal parameters for it.

Meanwhile the Auto-Dutch system has been working better, with a small profit made since our last update.

We are also pleased to report that we are now running the bot on a VPS and it has been running much more smoothly on that, although does need occasional checking as I missed a few days whilst away on holiday and the bot didn’t automatically refresh each day – but seems to be doing so now.

Anyway, Ryan has also been working on some new systems which sound very interesting, including some auto-trade software which we are intrigued by.

So whilst it has been a little bumpy with the Expo Bot lately, there is still plenty of time left in our trial and we are very hopeful about developments for the Exponential Bet service going forward.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Expo Bot – Results Update

10th April 2019

It’s been a tough start to our trial of the Expo Bot, both in terms of results and getting it to work properly.

In terms of results, we are currently 6 points down (or £60 down to the £10 stakes we are using) combined for the In-Play trading and Auto Dutch systems.

You can view full results here (please note there are two tabs on the spreadsheet for the two systems).

It should be stressed however that these are not comprehensive results for the Bot because (as alluded to) we have had some problems running it and haven’t been able to place all the trades.

Some of these problems it seems were at our end and some at the developer’s end, as we are now on the fourth version of the bot due to some technical issues.

This is to be expected really with a new piece of software like this which is quite sophisticated and it should be stressed that the Bot is still in beta mode at the moment before being officially released as an “end product” if you like.

Hopefully most of the teething problems have been ironed out now and it will be smoother sailing from here on in.

In terms of the results, whilst they have been a little disappointing thus far, the losses haven’t been too bad in the grand scheme of things and they have coincided with the “limbo period” of the jumps season ending and the flat season starting, so that could explain things at least partially.

Anyway it’s early days and still plenty of time to get into profit so let’s see where we are after our next update.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Expo Bot – New Review

12th March 2019

We have previously reviewed two systems from Exponential Bet – their In-Play Betting System and their Dutch betting strategy – both of which received passed ratings after performing very well during live trials here on the site.

Today we are starting a trial of a new and exciting piece of kit they have developed, namely their Expo Bot.

This is a betting bot that enables complete automation of two of their strategies – i.e. the In-Play Betting System we reviewed previously and their relatively newer Automated Dutch betting system.

Both of these are strategies for betting/trading on horse racing on Betfair that Exponential Bet have developed over time with a good deal of work.

Just to give an idea of the figures, the Automated Dutch system has so far made £471 profit to just £10 stakes from 65 betting days since going live whilst the In-Play Betting System has made £1012 profit from £10 stakes since going live almost exactly a year ago.

So combined these strategies have done very well indeed and made substantial profits with pretty low stakes.

Now the beauty of the situation is that the Expo Bot allows them to be implemented completely automatically on Betfair. You just need to set up the bot, enter your chosen stake and settings and let it do its thing.

Whilst up until now there was a degree of automation available with the strategies, there was still some manual work that needed doing and the use of an external bot such as the Bet Engine or Fairbot.

Having it all completely automated from end to end through the Expo Bot is a big improvement in our view though and we are looking forward to testing the bot out.

We have set it up and started the Bot running so are already placing bets and can report it is all working well.

If results end up being as good as those achieved to date then this will be a great way of making some extra income, all on auto-pilot.

Plus we see the possibility of really growing the bank over time by using progressive staking rather than just flat staking.

Anyway, let’s see how things go first during our live trial before we get ahead of ourselves. We will record results here during the trial so please watch out for updates on how the review progresses.

Just a note that if you are not already a member of the Auto Dutch or In-Play Betting services then you will need to sign up to those as well as the Expo Bot. However you can get them all in one package – see the red box with “Expo Bot All in One Promotion” towards the bottom of the sign-up page.

You can check out the Expo Bot for yourself here.

Racing Bulletin – New Review

Oh dear – it looks like this service has been discontinued. We haven’t received any tips since they went live and have had no response to our e-mails to them.

Plus now the website appears to have been taken down!

Oh well, sometimes these things happen – people’s personal circumstances can change.

Perhaps if they ever decide to recommence in future, we can run a trial then.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

We are starting a trial today of a horse racing service called Racing Bulletin.

This is a service that provides quite a detailed explanation on its website of how selections are arrived at.

Things start off with their speed ratings and some markers to potentially exclude horses based on being poorly handicapped, unproven on the ground or at today’s distance.

Then from this they form a shortlist based on factors such as the going, form and the time of the year.

Finally from this shortlist they will perform their final analysis and select their tips.

The tips focus on turf races but there is also an AW Handicap service adding some selections to the mix, but these don’t come with the same detailed analysis as described above.

Nice to see a tipster that provides detailed explanation for how their choose their bets, although as ever the proof will be in the pudding as they say.

The service is available for a 14 day trial at a cost of £1 but then costs are rather steep to say the least at £79.95 per month.

There are no long term results published on the website so we have to say we are surprised by the level of subscription fees charged. We normally only expect such fees charged for tipsters that have a long track record of proven success.

Anyway, we will see how this one gets on as we are intrigued by the approach.

We will run our normal three month trial and provide regular updates on how this one gets on.
