We are starting a new review today of a horse racing service called All Weather Place.
This is a tipster based at the Betting Gods tipster platform and they take a rather different approach to betting than most horse racing tipsters out there.
As the name suggests, they focus solely on all-weather racing and just on the place market.
It’s an interesting approach and not one we’ve seen tried successfully before – although very few tipsters have tried it in fairness. Most focus on the win or each-way markets.
However, we have often wondered if there could be value in the place markets, with for example certain horses who tend to perform consistently and grab a place but rarely win.
The service has been going for just over a year now and the results have been solid, with a shade under 50 points profit made in total.
That has come with a good strike rate of 40% and a decent return on investment (ROI) of 9%.
The good news is that all results are at Betfair SP, so there are no worries for those who have had their bookie accounts restricted.
We are always open to new ideas and approaches to betting so will be interesting to see how this one gets on in our live trial.
Results will be updated here as we go along as usual so you can see how they are getting on.

One of the first services we reviewed back when launching this website was a horse racing service called Racing Consultants.
In our original review back in 2015 (see below) it made an excellent 135 points profit, earning a deserved PASSED rating.
Regular followers will know one of the most important qualities we look for in a service is longevity – the ability to produce a long-term profit over the course of many years.
That proves a service is not just a flash in the pan or had a lucky run, but has a genuine edge over the bookies.
It is these time-tested services that tend to prove their worth in the long run, whilst other services fall by the wayside.
So with the service continuing to perform very well after our original review ended, we though it was time for a follow-up review to track the results fully again and see what they could deliver.
When we did our original review there were two tipsters – Rory Delargy and David Massey, but now it is just Rory.
So perhaps the name should be changed to “Racing Consultant” (singular) rather then “Racing Consultants.”
In any event, Mr Delargy is well known in racing circles, being chief British racing correspondent for the Irish Field newspaper, and also writes a daily column for the Irish Daily Star, having previously been a regular pundit on Timeform Radio and William Hill Racing Radio – so clearly knows his stuff.
He provides detailed write-ups and analysis of the tips so you can see the level of knowledge and insight Rory has.
We proofed the tips for over two years in our re-review, which gave us a very good body of data – over 1700 bets in fact.
At the end of all that, Rory finished with a profit of 91 points at advised prices.
That came with a solid strike rate of 24% (including placed horses) and a return on investment of 4%.
Overall then across our two reviews, the service has made 226 points profit, which is highly commendable.
The results at Betfair SP weren’t quite as impressive, with a loss of 7 points made for our re-review.
Since starting up ten years ago, the Racing Consultants have made 1100 points profit, results which we have no reason to doubt given the accuracy of their reported results across our two extensive proofing periods.
That puts them right up there with the top tipsters in the sport.
Whilst the results in our re-review were solid rather than spectacular, what you get with this service is consistency and long-term profitability, which is what counts most in the end.
There are very few services out there that are still going after ten years, let alone making over 1,000 points profit.
That proves a clear edge over the bookies and puts them in elite company.
At the end of the day, it’s this consistency and standing the test of time that is far more valuable than a tipster that shines bright for a short time then fizzles out.
So it’s a clear PASSED rating for the Racing Consultants from us and a service well worth adding to the portfolio.
Service Breakdown
Ease of use: There are around 2 bets per day on average, with tips are normally sent out in the morning of racing.
Availability of prices: Some prices do get pushed in initially and as mentioned above the Betfair SP results did not generate a profit for our re-review so it is advisable to take the early prices if you can.
Strike rate: The strike rate for the trial was solid at 24%. That means there are some drawdowns to cope with so a bit of patience is required if you want to follow this service.
Advised Betting Bank: The advised betting bank is 100 points which is perhaps a little on the low side as we did go 67 points down at one point in the trial, which would be two thirds of the bank and a little too close to comfort for some. So if you wanted to be on the safe side we think a 150 point bank would be advisable.
Subscription costs: The subscription costs are fair considering the consistent results they have achieved, at £29.99 per month or £199 per year at the time of writing.
OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED
Racing Consultants is a horse racing tipping service that has been going for ten years. It was originally made up of two tipsters but for the last few years it has just been Rory Delargy providing the tips.
We reviewed the service back in 2015 when it made 135 points profit and in our re-review it added another 91 points profit.
In total the service has made 1,100 points profit since 2014, putting it into the elite group of tipsters who have made over 1,000 points profit.
For longevity and consistency, this ranks as one of the top tipsters out there and is well worth adding to the portfolio.
There’s been a bit of a retracement lately for horse racing tipster Racing Consultants, with a loss of 25 points made at advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 85 points up for our trial overall at advised prices.
The results at Betfair SP have been well behind those at advised prices, with 32 points lost since our last update, putting them 15 points down for our trial overall at BSP.

It’s nice to go back and see one of the old favourites still going and performing well, let’s see if it can kick on now after a tricky month.
The results at Betfair SP are slightly lagging but still in the green, with 10 points profit made for our trial so far at BSP.
Tips are normally sent out late morning/early afternoon, so the markets are well formed by that stage. They also come with detailed write-ups so you can see Rory who provides the selections has really done his homework.
One of the first services we reviewed back when launching this website was a horse racing service called Racing Consultants.
In our original review back in 2015 (see below) it made an excellent 135 points profit, earning a deserved PASSED rating.
We then updated our review back in 2017, at which point it had made 255 points profit since we began following the service.
Regular followers will know one of the most important qualities we look for in a service is longevity – the ability to produce a long-term profit over the course of many years.
That proves a service is not just a flash in the pan or had a lucky run, but has a genuine edge over the bookies. It is these time-tested services that tend to prove their worth in the long run, whilst other services fall off and disappear.
In this spirit it is noteworthy that the Racing Consultants have continued to produce impressive results after our last review update and are now a massive 1,000 points up in total and have a body of work going back over eight years.
That puts them in a very exclusive club of tipsters and always makes us sit up and take notice.
So it is high time to take another look at the service and update our original review from a few years ago.
Just a note that when we did our original review there were two tipsters – Rory Delargy and David Massey, but now it is just Rory.
That hasn’t harmed the results at all – in fact since Rory took solo charge in 2017 the results have been just as impressive, if not better.
Mr Delargy is well known in racing circles, being chief British racing correspondent for the Irish Field newspaper, and also writes a daily column for the Irish Daily Star, having previously been a regular pundit on Timeform Radio and William Hill Racing Radio.
What you get with the service is detailed write-ups and analysis of the tips so you can see the level of knowledge and insight Rory has.
Anyway, without further ado we will get this re-review underway and hopefully we haven’t jinxed things with our build-up here…
It’s worth pointing out there is currently a half-price trial for the first month, which is a decent offer given the results achieved.
Here at Honest Betting Reviews, we don’t like to just review a service for three months and then forget about it.
No, we like to keep monitoring services to see if they continue meriting the original rating we gave them.
So in that spirit, today we are updating a service we have been following for close to 20 months – theRacing Consultants.
This is a horse racing tipping service with tips provided by two industry experts, Rory Delargy and David Massey.
They originally gained an approved rating from us, notching up a very impressive 135 points of profit during the three month trial back in 2015.
It has been something of a rollercoaster ride since then though, with good profits made in the remainder of 2015 following our trial, but then a tough 2016, with a loss of 17 points made on the year.
Thankfully 2017 has started off more positively, with 60 points of profit having been made to date.
Overall then since we have been following them, theRacing Consultantshave made 255 points profit, which is a decent total.
And since the service started in June 2014, they have made 545 points profit. The yearly totals are as follows:-
2014 – 197 points profit
2015 – 305 points profit
2016 – 17 point loss
2017 to date – 60 points profit
So if you had been following them right from the start, you would have done very well.
However, we can only speak of how they have done from when we started monitoring the tips, so what is our feeling now after 20 months?
OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED
We believe that having made profits of over 250 points since we started following them, theRacing Consultantsare still deserving of a recommended rating.
We recognise however that many people will have found the going very tough during 2016 and to have made a loss over the course of a whole year is disappointing.
The majority of punters will have deserted them during 2016, which is understandable given that you would have to pay subscription fees on top of having lost money.
So we are downgrading them from 4.5 stars to 3.5 stars to take the rocky year of 2016 into account.
We will continue monitoring things and hopefully results will continue in the positive fashion they have started in 2017.
Normally when we hear the words “industry insiders” we make sure our wallets are firmly closed and head for the exit as quickly as possible.
It is usually the fastest way to the poor house to follow so-called “experts” who claim to have some kind of inside knowledge that will make you untold riches. The vast majority of the time it is either lies – they don’t have any special insights – or the info they do have is worse than useless.
So we have been pleasantly surprised by the achievements of two well-known racing industry professionals, Rory Delargy and David Massey, during our trial of their Racing Consultants service.
Rory commentates on William Hill Radio and Timeform Radio and is also an Irish Field Naps Correspondent.
David Massey – aka “Chutney Dave” – is also a commentator on William Hill Radio and works for Bet Racing Nation.
To be fair, their “industry insiders” tag is more to do with the fact that they work in the business and so living and breathing it every day has given them a great depth of knowledge, rather than being given any mysterious “inside info” about horses supposedly due to run well.
The hard work they put in has clearly paid off as they amassed a superb 135 points profit during our trial at advised prices and 129 points profit at Betfair SP.
Here are the results in graph format:
Profit graph for Racing Consultants
As you can see, a very dramatic jump occurred around half way through the trial, when they landed an audacious 66/1 double – whilst backing the selections as singles as well.
That gave the results a boost of about 80 points in one fell swoop. Even taking that out of the equation though, they still made over 50 points profit from all their other selections, which is none too shabby.
You will note the very close totals there between advised prices and Betfair SP, which is very encouraging. So you should be able to just about match the published results just using Betfair.
You can view a full reasoning behind the tips each day via the website and it is reassuring to see the amount of work that has gone in to producing the selections.
Looking at their performance overall, they have made just under 400 points profit since the service started in June 2014. That equates to 25 points profit per month.
Now we haven’t officially proofed the previous results prior to our three month trial, but we have been subscribers to the service since late 2014 so can testify that the published results are accurate.
They have shown a decent level of consistency too, with 12 out of 16 months being winning months.
So a definite pass rating for the Racing Consultants. Let’s have a look now at how the service breaks down.
Service Breakdown
Ease of use: OK – there are on average 3.4 bets per day, so a bit of time is needed each day to put the bets on.
Availability of prices: OK – tips are normally sent out in the morning, with best bookies prices quoted. Some of those prices do get pushed in initially. But with the Betfair SP results nearly equaling the advised prices, that should not be a problem.
Strike rate: The strike rate for the trial might be a little low for some people’s tastes at 15%. That means there are some losing runs to cope with and patience is required if you want to follow this service.
Advised Betting Bank: The advised betting bank is 100 points which we think is just about OK. There have been a couple of 40-odd point drawdowns over the lifetime of the service, so if you wanted to be on the safe side we think a 150 point bank would be advisable.
Subscription costs: The subscription costs are very fair considering the quality of results they have achieved, at £39.99 per month or £199 per year.
OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED
Overall we have been very impressed with the results achieved by the Racing Consultants. We were perhaps a little lucky to hit them at their best time, with a double that added 80 points to the bank landed during our trial.
At the same time though, they do advise quite a few of these special bets, a number of which have been close, so were maybe due one coming in for them.
Even leaving that aside however, they still made over 50 points profit during the trial. And the fact that the Betfair SP results almost matched the advised price results means you should be able to achieve close to the published results – which is not something you can say about every service we review here.
So in summary we are delighted to find some “industry insiders” who actually know what they are doing for once and put in genuine hard work to achieve great results for their subscribers.
TheRacing Consultants have been in fantastic form since our last update, producing a superb 88 points of profit at advised prices and 96 points profit at Betfair SP.
That means their totals for the trial now stand at:
Their results were helped greatly by a magnificent double a couple of weeks ago at Catterick, where they firstly landed Di’s Gift at 5/1 and then followed it up with Llewellyn at 10/1 an hour later.
They backed not only the singles but also a double at 66/1 to give 78 points profit on the day. Awesome stuff!
That now means they have more than doubled the bank since the beginning of our trial two months ago. Highly commendable work from the lads.
We have just under a month to go on this one, but barring some kind of dramatic collapse a la the Australian batting line-up, this one looks headed for the winning systems list.
Punter’s Profit Pro is a horse racing tipster from the Betting Gods stable of tipsters. They have been tipping since May 2023 and provide around 2 bets per day on average.
The staking with this service is a little higher than most services we review at up to 5 points per bet, so that should be borne in mind when considering a betting bank for following the service. A 150 point bank is recommended by Betting Gods.
Flat and all-weather racing is their specialism and we got a good portion of both in our six month trial.
Over that period we proofed over 350 bets which is a decent sample size.
It was quite an up-and-down review, with them going over 80 points up at one stage in our trial, only to fall all the way back down to finish with just 2 points profit at advised prices.
The strike rate was solid at 28% whilst the ROI was negligible at 0.3%.
At Betfair SP they fared a little worse, with a loss of 13 points made for our trial.
Overall then the only fair rating here is a NEUTRAL rating, as they finished more or less even for our trial after six months.
They did promise much early on, but sadly we are basically back to where we started after six months.
Service Breakdown
Ease of use: The selections are sent out e-mail (or via the Betting Gods app), usually around 8am UK time on the day of racing. There is plenty of time to get the bets on and with around 2 bets per day on average the workload is very manageable.
Availability of prices: There was no real issue with price availability.
Strike rate: The strike rate for our trial was solid at 28% (including placed horses), but would have needed to be a little higher to generate a more healthy profit.
Advised Betting Bank: A 150 point bank is recommended for following the service, which seems okay to us but given the staking of up to 5 points per bet, a 200 point bank might be more advisable here.
Subscription costs: The subscription costs at the time of writing are £1 for first 30 days then £29 per month or £290 per year.
OVERALL VERDICT: NEUTRAL
We conducted a six month trial of horse racing tipster Punter’s Profit Pro and in the end it finished with a profit of 2 points at advised prices.
So in effect it pretty much broke even for our trial and the only fair verdict in this case is a NEUTRAL rating.
The results at Betfair SP have also been strong, with a profit of 21 points made since our last update and 63 points profit made for our trial to date at BSP.
As mentioned in the review introduction, the staking with this service is quite aggressive at up to 5 points per bet, so that’s worth bearing in mind and making sure you have a sufficient bank if you are thinking of following the service.
Things continue to move along nicely for horse racing tipster Punter’s Profit Pro, with a profit of 21 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 54 points up for our trial overall at advised prices.
The results at Betfair SP have also stood up well, with a profit of 21 points made since our last update and 42 points profit made for our trial to date at BSP.
As mentioned in the review introduction, the staking with this service is quite aggressive at up to 5 points per bet, so that’s worth bearing in mind and making sure you have a sufficient bank if you are thinking of following the service.

It’s also been a solid start at Betfair SP, with a profit of 14 points made for our trial to date at BSP.
As mentioned in the review introduction, the staking with this service is quite aggressive at up to 4 points per bet, so that’s worth bearing in mind and making sure you have a sufficient bank if you are thinking of following the service.
We are starting a new trial today of a horse racing service called Punter’s Profit Pro.
This comes from the Betting Gods stable of tipsters and they have been tipping since May 2023.
The results are pretty solid, with 126 points profit made so far at a return on investment (ROI) of 12% and a strike rate of 24%.
The staking with this service is a little higher at up to 4 points per bet, so that should be borne in mind when considering a betting bank for following the service. A 150 point bank is recommended by Betting Gods.
On average there are around 2 bets per day so it should be fairly simple service to follow.
Flat and all-weather racing seems to be their specialism so we should be in a good time now with the all-weather season ramping up towards its conclusion before the flat turf season gets going.
Anyway, let’s hope for a good trial here to kick off 2024.
We will update results here as we go along as usual so you can see how they are getting on.

After following JPW Racing Tipster for an extended trial of 16 months, it’s time to deliver our final verdict on this horse racing service.
JPW – or James P Walsh to give him his full name – has been a long-established name in the world of racing tips, boasting a large following and a reputation for delivering consistent profits.
We monitored selections for the weekend tips only, although there are options to follow just festivals, Saturdays, weekends or a combination of those.
Coming into our trial JPW had made a profit of 344 points profit on the weekend selections so we were eager to see how he got on in our live trial.
Performance Over the course of our trial, JPW Racing Tipster delivered a solid performance, with a profit of 60 points made from 583 tips.
That was achieved with a decent ROI (Return on Investment) of 9% and a strike rate of 32% (including placed horses).
Those are commendable figures, especially considering the service focuses on high-quality racing at the weekends with strong liquidity.
A good profit of 42 points was also made at Betfair SP, so it looks like a viable service for those restricted to the exchanges.
The only thing slight downside is that service did hit a high point of over 110 points profit at advised prices in September 2023, so there was a bit of a decline between then and the end of our trial.
However, the overall results are more than respectable so we are happy to award JPW Racing Tipster a PASSED rating after a solid trial.
Service Breakdown
Ease of use: The selections are sent out e-mail, some the evening before racing and some the morning of racing. There is plenty of time to get the bets on and with around 8 bets per weekend on average the workload isn’t too bad.
Availability of prices: We didn’t notice too much price pressure overall over the course of our trial. The tips target the bigger races at weekends, where liquidity is usually high.
Strike rate: The strike rate for our trial was solid at 32% (including placed horses).
Advised Betting Bank: No betting bank is advised for the service but we used a 100 point bank for our trial. The bank was never in jeopardy during our trial, although we did experience a drawdown of around 50 points at one stage so a 150 point bank could be advisable here.
Subscription costs: The subscription costs at the time of writing are reasonable at £25 for 60 days, £30 for 3 months, £50 for 6 months or £90 for 12 months.
OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED
JPW Racing Tipster is a long-running horse racing service from renowned tipster James Walsh.
There are a few different options in terms of following the tips but we focused on the weekend tips only.
After a 16 month trial the service made a solid profit of 60 points so we are happy to award the service a PASSED rating. A commendable effort.
The results at Betfair SP continue to run slightly behind the results at advised prices, with a loss of27 points made since our last update and 37 points profit made for our trial overall.
Just a reminder for the purposes of this trial we are only following the weekend tips of JPW Racing Tipster rather than the other options that are available.
The results at Betfair SP continue to run slightly behind the results at advised prices, with a loss of11 points made since our last update and 64 points profit made for our trial overall.
Just a reminder for the purposes of this trial we are only following the weekend tips of JPW Racing Tipster rather than the other options that are available.
The results at Betfair SP continue to perform well too, with a profit of 8 points made since our last update and 75 points profit made for our trial overall.
Always nice to see a tipster break through the 100 point barrier as they have done here at advised prices. Let’s hope they can keep it going.
The results at Betfair SP have followed a similar path to those at advised prices, with a loss of 16 points made since our last update but 67 points profit made for our trial overall.
The jumps season is in full swing now and with NH racing being specialty are hopeful of getting things moving in the right direction again soon.
The results at Betfair SP have followed a similar path to those at advised prices, with a loss of 16 points made since our last update but 83 points profit made for our trial overall.
The jumps season is their real speciality so as that gets going over the next few weeks hopefully we will see results pick up again.
The results at Betfair SP have also been outstanding, with 99 points profit made for our trial so far.
Just as a reminder, as mentioned in our review introduction below we have verified the tips going back to January, which has given us 278 bets so far.
For a service that only tips at weekends, these results really are superb. To have made over 100 points at advised prices and 99 at BSP for such a minimal workload is worthy of high praise indeed.
Just to note as well that they are running a special offer at the moment for membership for the full National Hunt season, which runs from Friday 6th October 2023 – Saturday 27th April 2024.
The package is normally £129.99 but you can get a £30 discount by using the code HBRNATHUNT2023 at checkout.
So that’s the full National Hunt season for just £99.99 when you use the code HBRNATHUNT2023.
James who runs the service says National Hunt is what he really excels at so this looks like one not to be missed!
We are starting a new trial today of a service called JPW Racing Tipster.
This is one of the longest-running and most established tipsters in the business, having been around for over 14 years now. It may well be a familiar name to you if you have been around the tipping world for a while.
The service is headed by a chap called James Walsh (hence the initials JPW), who also heads up the Tipsters Empire tipping platform.
The JPW Racing service just concentrates on quality racing these days, as they say they don’t have the passion for low grade racing anymore, so during the week for example they concentrate on spending all their time looking ahead to Weekends and Festivals, which they are very passionate about.
In terms of the results, those have been very impressive, with a profit of 344 points made since 2020 for the Weekend selections.
That has been achieved with a return on investment of 23% and a strike rate of 31%, which are excellent combined metrics over a period of three and a half years.
There are an average of 3 tips per weekend which makes it very manageable to follow.
It is worth noting that they offer a number of different services including the National Hunt Package, Flat season package, Festival Only, Saturday Only, Weekend Only or the Option to combine everything, in a joint packages.
For the purposes of this review we will be recording the weekend results. We have six months of tips already verified so will include those in our trial updates.
As always things will be updated here as we go along.

Cotswold Racing is a horse racing tipster covering UK and Irish racing, from the Tipsters Empire stable of tipping experts.
The tipster himself comes from the Cotsworlds near Cheltenham (hence the name) and grew up with horse racing.
He says he uses “a selection of databases and information sources that are helping me to find even more winners and gain even better results. The key is not to get overwhelmed with it all, find the sources that work for you and be diligent.
“When punting I tend to shy away from the obvious and am always on the look out for value, often recommending a horse that will be a lot shorter than its early price.”
That strategy appears to have set him in good stead, with very substantial profits made coming into our trial and a formidable reputation.
So how did it go in the live trial?
Well we followed the tips for a period of nine months, which gave us a decent sample size of over 540 bets.
It took things quite a while to get going and we were slightly in deficit for a fair part of the trial.
However, this was one of those instances where patience was rewarded, as the service eventually came good and got the trial into profit.
In the end they finished 36 points up at advised prices, which was a solid return.
That was achieved with a return on investment (ROI) of 6% and strike rate of 32% (including placed horses).
Here you can see how things really came good towards the end of our trial after a bit of a struggle through the middle part:
The service didn’t perform quite so well at Betfair SP however, with a loss of 31 points made at BSP for our trial.
Overall then it was a solid, if unspectacular, trial.
A profit is still a profit and is not to be sniffed at so we award Cotswold Racing a narrow PASSED rating at the end of our nine month review.
Service Breakdown
Ease of use: The selections are sent out by e-mail, either in the evening before racing or at around 9am on the morning of racing. Either way there is plenty of time to get the bets on and with around 2 bets per day on average the workload is very manageable.
Availability of prices: There was a little bit of pressure on prices as this is a popular service and it is able to identify value and the beat the SP quite frequently, so it is advisable to get your bets on as soon as possible after bets are sent out. A wide spread of bookie accounts is also recommended for following the service.
Strike rate: The strike rate for our trial was good at 32% (including placed horses) so there was a reasonably steady rate of returns throughout the trial.
Advised Betting Bank: A 150 point bank is recommended for following the service which seems reasonable to us and was more than enough to cope with the ups and downs during our trial.
Subscription costs: The current subscription costs at the time of writing are £45 per month, £120 per quarter, £200 for 6 months or £350 per year.
OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED
Cotswold Racing is a horse racing tipster covering UK and Irish racing and produced a solid, if unspectacular, 36 points profit during our nine month trial.
It was a decent enough profit to warrant a narrow PASSED rating from us and given the results posted prior to our trial, it is a service to keep an eye on for the long term.
The results at Betfair SP continue to lag those at advised prices, with a profit of 18 points made since our last update but 26 points lost for our trial overall at BSP.
Although the BSP results have struggled a little in our trial so far, as noted in previous updates it is actually the case that since the service began, the BSP results have outperformed those at advised prices, so it may just be a temporary phenomenon that they have lagged so far in our trial.

Things just can’t quite get going for horse racing tipster Cotswold Racing at the moment, with a loss of 3 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 18 points down for our trial overall at advised prices.

The results at Betfair SP continue to lag those at advised prices, with a loss of 24 points made since our last update and 37 points lost for our trial overall at BSP.
Partly that is due to an each-way double which was advised across two weekends, with one of the legs being punted down from an advised price of 7.0 to a BSP of 2.95 (please note that the BSP price of the each-way double is estimated based on the BSP win prices).
It is also down to the fact – as mentioned before with other horse racing services – that when tipping each-way bets with extra places at the bookies, quite a few of these will finish fifth and sixth etc and produce returns with the bookmakers but be losing bets on Betfair.
The third factor is simply horses being backed and their prices at BSP being lower than the advised prices.

Anyway, we will have to see more results to see how the BSP results hold up over the long term. It is worth noting that since the service began, the BSP results have actually outperformed those at advised prices, so it may just be a temporary phenomenon that they have lagged a little so far in our trial.
We are starting a new review today of a horse racing service called Cotswold Racing.
This is a very prominent tipster from the Tipsters Empire stable who has built up a very respected reputation as one of the best tipsters out there over the last couple of years.
That approach appears to have served him very well, with a profit of 430 points made since starting up in 2020.
That has been achieved with a solid strike rate of 31% and a good return on investment of 15%.
What is perhaps even more impressive though is the return achieved at Betfair SP, which is even better than the results at advised prices, with 555 points profit made at a return on investment of 19%.
That means it could perhaps be the “holy grail” of horse racing – a service that is profitable to follow at BSP over the long term.
Looking at the profit graph from the last couple of years is something to behold and the kind of smooth upward progress most tipsters can only dream of:
So it’s with great anticipation that we get this trial of one of the most promising tipsters we’ve come across in some time underway. As ever, results will be updated here as we go along.

King of the Picks is a horse racing tipping service for UK and Irish racing.
The service is run by a chap called called Hugh Doyle. That name may sound familiar to our regular visitors – well Hugh is actually the brother of the man behind the Bet Alchemist, Nicky Doyle.
The Bet Alchemist is a service we’ve previously reviewed here and given a positive rating to and is one of our top recommended horse racing tipsters. So horse racing tipping seems to run in the family!
Hugh started his King of the Picks service during covid when unfortunately he lost his job. He had been a successful punter for a while on a part-time basis so after losing his job decided to start betting full-time to try and make a proper go of it.
It might sound like a risky move but Hugh had the results to back it up, which coming into our trial looked very good.
The bets are a mixture of win and each-way and are mainly focused on the weekends and big festivals.
We ended up running an extensive 20-month trial in the end which gave us a very good sample size of over 1200 bets.
At the end of this extended trial, Hugh finished with a commendable 100 points profit at advised prices.
It’s always nice to see a service break through the 100-point barrier over the course of a trial, which is no mean feat – although this one did take a little longer than most trials we run here.
Still, 100 points profit is a very good mark to hit and it was achieved with a strike rate of 35% (including placed horses) and a return on investment (ROI) of 4%.
Things started off very well before tailing off towards the middle, but really picked up again over the second half of the trial to finish strongly in profit:
Encouragingly for those whose bookie accounts have been restricted, the service also made a very healthy 72 points profit at Betfair SP.
All in all then a solid effort by King of the Picks and we are happy to award the service a PASSED rating.
Service Breakdown
Ease of use: The selections are sent out by e-mail, either in the evening before racing or more often at around 10am on the day racing. Either way there is plenty of time to get the bets on and with around 2 bets per day on average the workload is very manageable.
Availability of prices: We didn’t notice a huge impact on prices so you should be able to get close to the recorded results without too much problem.
Strike rate: The strike rate for our trial was good at 35% (including placed horses) so there was a reasonably steady rate of returns throughout the trial.
Advised Betting Bank: A 200 point bank is recommended for following the service which seems reasonable to us and was more than enough to cope with an extended drawdown in the first half of our trial.
Subscription costs: The current subscription costs at the time of writing are £29 per month, £79 per quarter, £150 for 6 months or £259 per year.
OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED
After an extended 20 month trial, horse racing tipster King of the Picks delivered a commendable 100 points profit at advised prices.
The results were solid rather than spectacular, with bank growth of 50% over the course of the trial.
With a good profit made however and strong results over the second half of our trial in particular, including at Betfair SP, we are happy to award this service a PASSED rating.
The Betfair SP results have fallen slightly behind those at advised prices, with no change made since our last update, meaning they are still 52 points up made for our trial overall at BSP.
It still looks like this service could be a viable option for those confined to the exchanges after having their bookie accounts restricted though.
The Betfair SP results have fallen slightly behind those at advised prices, with a profit of 2 points made since our last update and 52 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.

It still looks like this service could be a viable option for those confined to the exchanges after having their bookie accounts restricted though.
Interestingly the Betfair SP results continue to perform better than those at advised prices, with a loss of 14 points made since our last update and 59 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.
So it’s looking like this service could be a viable option for those confined to the exchanges after having their bookie accounts restricted.

Horse racing tipster King of the Picks has suffered a bit of a retracement lately, with a loss of 15 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 36 points up for our trial overall at advised prices.
Interestingly the Betfair SP results are above those at advised prices, with a loss of 7 points made since our last update but 45 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.
So it’s looking like this service could be a viable option for those confined to the exchanges after having their bookie accounts restricted.
Interestingly the Betfair SP results have now jumped above those at advised prices, with a profit of 37 points made since our last update and 52 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.

The Betfair SP results remain slightly behind the advised prices, with a profit of 33 points made since our last update and 15 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.
There have been a few nice winners in the last week, including West Balboa at Kempton which was advised at 11/1 but won at a BSP of 22.0.
The Betfair SP results remain behind the advised prices, with a profit of 7 points made since our last update but 18 points lost for our trial overall at BSP.
With National Hunt racing getting into full swing now it may have helped this service which is more of a specialist in that code than the flat.
The recent slide continues unfortunately for horse racing tipster King of the Picks, with a loss of 16 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 2 points down for our trial overall at advised prices.
The Betfair SP results have stayed slightly below the advised prices, with a loss of 18 points made since our last update and 25 points lost for our trial overall at BSP.
After a promising start to our trial it’s been a tough run for this service so hopefully they can turn things around soon.
It’s been a tough month for horse racing tipster King of the Picks unfortunately, with a loss of 23 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 14 points up for our trial overall at advised prices.
The Betfair SP results have stayed slightly below the advised prices, with a loss of 31 points made since our last update and 7 points lost for our trial overall at BSP.
Could do with things turning around for this service soon as it’s been on a bit of a slide for the last few months after a promising start to our trial.
The slight decline continued for horse racing tipster King of the Picks over the last month, with a loss of 8 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 37 points up for our trial overall at advised prices.
The Betfair SP results have stayed slightly below the advised prices, with a loss of 11 points made since our last update but 24 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.
This trial started off in very strong fashion but has struggled a bit over the last few months. It’s still well up overall so can’t complain but a few more winners would come in handy to push them back in the right direction.
The Betfair SP results are tracking reasonably well against the advised prices, with a loss of 11 points made since our last update but 35 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.
So a couple of slow months for King of the Picks but still nicely up for our trial overall. Let’s see if they can kick on again over the next month.
A small step backwards for horse racing tipster King of the Picks over the last month, with a loss of 7 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 58 points up for our trial overall at advised prices.
There has been a slightly smaller dip at Betfair SP, with a loss of just 2 points made since our last update and 46 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.
They did have a nice winner at Ascot last week however, with Rohann winning at an advised price of 14/1 and a massive BSP of 32.0.
A few more winners like that and they’ll be really flying!
There’s been a small dip for horse racing tipster King of the Picks over the last month, with a loss of 6 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 65 points up for our trial overall at advised prices.
There has been a slightly larger dip at Betfair SP, with a loss of 20 points made since our last update and 48 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.
Hopefully this is just a small blip and they will get back to winning ways shortly.
The results have also held up very well at Betfair SP, with a profit of 41 points made since our last update and 68 points profit made for our trial overall at BSP.
Please note the free first month offer has expired but you can still get free video content on a weekly basis including recommended free tips.
At Betfair SP things have gotten off to an even better start, with a profit of 27 points made for our trial so far.
Just a reminder that this is a service that is mainly focused on the weekends and big festivals.
That means next week at Cheltenham is going to be a big one for them and you can still get a FREE month’s trial if you want to get in on the action with King of the Picks for the festival.
When covid hit it affected us all in different ways. It was a tough time for everyone and for Hugh Doyle, sadly it meant he lost his job.
Having been betting on the horses for decades though and achieving good returns, he decided to turn his attention to betting full-time in November 2020.
His results since then have been quite remarkable and Hugh is probably glad he did back himself to bet on the gee-gees full time! He has now launched his tipping service to share his tips with the public and it’s called King of the Picks.
With over 200 points profit made at a 15% ROI according to his website he’s been doing very well.
The name Hugh Doyle may sound familiar – well he is actually the brother of the Bet Alchemist, Nicky Doyle. That’s a service we’ve previously reviewed and given a positive rating to. It has continued to perform well since our review ended. So Hugh comes from good betting stock anyway!
The bets are a mixture of win and each-way and are mainly focused on the weekends and big festivals. So it should be quite straightforward to follow and generally you could better liquidity on those races so prices hold up better.
So all in all looks pretty good and as a special offer Hugh is offering a FREE month’s trial to test the service out.
Anyway, we will kick things off today and hopefully Hugh can continue his form during our review and beyond. All results will be recorded here as we go along as usual.

The Haymaker is a horse racing tipster and it comes from the Back Lucrative stable. It is the first time they have ever provided the services of an external tipster rather than producing their own tips.
The results coming into our trial were so good according to Back Lucrative that they were blown away and felt they had to launch the service to the public.
That was quite a claim and certainly piqued our interest for the trial.
Essentially it is a straightforward tipping service with a combination of win bets, plus some place bets and some insurebets.
We hadn’t actually come across a tipster using insurebet before, but basically it means your bet wins if the selection wins, however if it places you get your full stake back.
The slight wrinkle with using insurebet is that there’s isn’t an exchange equivalent, so that precluded the chance to proof this service at Betfair SP.
In any event, we were able to proof the service at advised prices and followed the tips for just under a year, giving a good sample size of 533 bets.
Tips are provided by logging into a website only and are not sent by e-mail, Telegram or any other means.
Unfortunately it was a case of the “curse of the triallist” with this one as once our trial got underway things really nosedived, going over 50 points down early on.
Slowly and surely they fought their way back however, managing to claw things back and end the trial 19 points in profit.
That come at a strike rate of 38% and a return on investment of 1%.
That was a good effort and as we often say here, any sort of profit is not to be sneezed at.
At the same time though, just 19 points profit for nearly a year’s worth of tipping and over 500 bets isn’t quite what members would be looking for, particularly once subscription costs are taken into account.
So in the end we think a NEUTRAL rating is fair for The Haymaker. A solid effort to fight back after a tough start but not quite enough to generate a passed rating.
Service Breakdown
Ease of use: The selections are found by logging into the Back Lucrative website and are usually posted early in the morning on the day of racing. With around 2 bets per day on average it is fairly straightforward to follow.
Availability of prices: We didn’t notice a huge impact on prices so you should be able to get close to the recorded results without too much problem. As mentioned above though, certain bets aren’t available on exchanges so you will need bookie accounts to follow the advised bets fully.
Strike rate: The strike rate for our trial was okay at 38% but would probably need to be a little higher to generate a consistent profit.
Advised Betting Bank: We used a 100 point bank for the purposes of our review which did become a little threatened when things went badly early on, so a 150-200 point bank might be more appropriate for following the service.
Subscription costs: The current subscription costs at the time of writing are free for the first 7 days then £39 per month or £99 per quarter.
OVERALL VERDICT: NEUTRAL
The Haymaker is a horse racing service from the Back Lucrative stable. It is the first external tipster they have ever offered on their platform.
Our trial got off to a slow start, going over 50 points down early on but they battled back to finish 19 points up.
Although a valiant effort, it wasn’t quite enough to merit a passed rating for a year’s worth of betting and over 500 bets, so this service is awarded a NEUTRAL rating from us.
A slight improvement for horse racing service the Haymaker over the last month, with a profit of 3 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 42 points down for our trial overall at advised prices.
There are no Betfair SP results for this service as they advise bet types such as insurebets that do not have equivalent markets on Betfair.
Unfortunately this trial has struggled to really get going after some promising results coming into our review. Could do with a turnaround soon or we may have to call it a day on this one.
It’s been a much better month for horse racing service the Haymaker thankfully, with a profit of 36 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now just 16 points down for our trial overall at advised prices.
The tough start to our trial of horse racing service the Haymaker continues unfortunately, with a loss of 20 points made to advised prices since our last update.
That means they are now 52 points down for our trial overall at advised prices.
There are no Betfair SP results for this service as they advise bet types such as insurebets that do not have equivalent markets on Betfair.
There was quite a lot of hype around this service when it launched so it has been slightly surprising to see the results so far. Could do with things turning around for them pretty sharpish.
There are no Betfair SP results for this service as they advise bet types such as insurebets that do not have equivalent markets on Betfair.
In any event, a slightly disappointing start to this trial after quite a lot of excitement at its launch. It is still very early days though so far too soon to draw any conclusions.
We are starting a new trial today of a horse racing service called The Haymaker.
This comes from the Back Lucrative stable and is the first time they have ever provided the services of an external tipster rather than producing their own tips.
They say they have been proofing this tipster for over two years, which is a very good proofing period, and were blown away by the results.
With 934 points profit made so far at a strike rate of 52% and an ROI of 35%, we’re not surprised they have been blown away to be honest!
That ts a pretty amazing combination of stats, particularly to have such a high strike rate (over half the bets being winners) whilst still having such an impressive ROI.
We have rarely seen figures like those in all our years of testing tipsters and betting systems, so it will be interesting to see if those can be maintained during our trial (and beyond).
It’s slightly different to services we have reviewed before as the bets are a mixture of straightforward win bets, plus some place bets and some insurebets.
We haven’t actually come across a tipster using insurebet before, but basically it means your bet wins if the selection wins, however if it places you get your full stake back.
The slight wrinkle with using insurebet is that there’s isn’t an exchange equivalent, so Michael recommends just betting those to win on the exchange if you aren’t able to access bookmakers anymore.
In any event, it does look like a very promising service and there’s been quite a bit of buzz around its release.
As ever we will reserve judgement until we’ve seen how it performs under a live trial, but fingers crossed it can continue producing the kind of results seen over the last two years.
Results will be updated here as we go along as usual so you can see how it is getting on.
We are starting a new trial today of a service called Each Way Tips from the Phil Rushton stable of tipsters.
This is a service that has been going since 2019 and in that time has made over 370 points profit.
That has been achieved with a good strike rate of 40% and a solid return on investment (ROI) of 12%.
As the name of the service suggests, all bets are each-way bets and are on UK and Irish racing.
The staking is a simple one point each-way on each selection and there are just one or two bets per day on average, making it a straightforward service to follow.
The tips are supplied by a guy called Pete Thompson who has been a professional tipster for over 3 years and has been betting on horses for 15 years.
His other betting service Racing Wins has been going for a number of years and has also produced decent profits.
Pete focuses on finding value at prices of 4/1 and above and only selects a horse if he is sure it has a strong chance of winning or placing.
We often say here at HBR that the crucial factor we look for in tipsters is their longevity – their ability to make a profit over an extended period of time – so it is good to see this service has been running for nearly four years now.
Whether it can continue performing well we will find out in our trial but the signs are promising at least.
We started receiving tips on 1st July so will record results from then. Progress will be updated here as we go along as usual.
UPDATE – Please note this service has been discontinued so our review is also terminated.
Although the service had been going along okay and was in profit for our trial, on 25th May a message was sent out via Telegram saying: “Those that have paid this month will be refunded, all payments cancelled, and service terminated. Simply not reached the form he had and doesn’t warrant continuation.”
So another service bites the dust sadly. Been quite a few lately that have been discontinued before our trial has even finished.
Just shows once again how hard the tipping game is and how few actually master it in the long run. Thankfully there are a few that do though!
However, it’s been a better month at Betfair SP, with a profit of 4 points made since our last update and 16 points profit made for our trial to date at BSP.
So it looks like this service is actually better to follow at BSP than advised prices.
Just a reminder this is a laying service on the horses, normally providing up to one selection per day.
The maximum lay price is 4.0, so taking the BSPs would mean quite a few of the selections have gone over 4.0 by the time of the race and would therefore be no bet.
The results at Betfair SP continue to outperform those at advised prices, with a profit of 1 point made since our last update and 12 points profit made for our trial to date.

There have now been 18 winning lays in a row, which is quite an effort considering the lay prices are under 4.0. Impressive stuff.
The results at Betfair SP continue to outperform those at advised prices, with a profit of 6 points made since our last update and 8 points profit made for our trial to date.

The maximum lay price is 4.0, so taking the BSPs would mean quite a few of the selections have gone to over 4.0 by the time of the race and would therefore be no bet.
So there have been fewer selections at BSP but a steadier profit so far.
The results at Betfair SP have been quite a bit better however, with a profit of 2 points made for our trial to date.
Just a reminder this is a laying service on the horses, normally providing a maximum of one selection per day.
The maximum lay price is 4.0, so taking the BSPs would mean quite a few of the selections have gone to over 4.0 by the time of the race and would therefore be no bet. One even drifted from a recommended price of 3.95 all the way out to 12.24!
In any event, it’s far too early to draw any conclusions so far on advised prices vs BSP, especially as this is a very low volume service so we have only had 10 bets thus far. Will need to get a good deal more in the bank before we can make any judgements on that.
Sometimes we refer to the “London buses” scenario here at Honest Betting Reviews – you wait ages for one and then two come along at once.
Well that is the case this week for horse racing laying services. We’ve waited a while for any promising ones to review but this week we’ve got two!
First up was The Lay Bet Tipster which we started a review of on Tuesday. And today we have Lay2Win – a horse racing laying service from the Punt Hub tipster platform.
This is a service that has been going since January 2021 and according to the results on its website has amassed an impressive 86 points profit since starting up.
That has come with a very strong strike rate of 84% and an equally impressive return on investment (given the high strike rate) of 15%.
Since they started, 16 out of 18 months have been profitable which is the kind of consistency we like to see.
It’s a very selective service with usually just a few bets per week, so the workload looks to be pretty minimal with this one.
The highest odds they lay at is 4.0, so that keeps the liability down on each bet.
It looks quite interesting then and quite similar in terms of results to the Lay Bet Tipster. Which one will come out on top though? We’ll have to wait until the end of the trials to see!
Don’t worry though, you don’t have to wait that long to find out how this one is getting on – we will provide regular updates here as we go along.
Just a reminder that this is a service that only recommends bets at Betfair SP, so there are no separate results at BSP.
It’s been a rough old time for this service since our review started. The results looked very promising coming into our trial but sadly it may have hit the curse of the reviewer, as it has only gone one way since. A turnaround is needed quickly.
Just a reminder that this is a service that only recommends bets at Betfair SP, so obviously there are no separate results for this one at BSP.
It’s been a bit disappointing so far as there was a lot of excitement at the launch of the service around the idea of finding a service that’s profitable on Betfair, but it is very early days so far too early to draw any conclusions.
We are starting a new trial of a racing service called the BSP Racing Tipster.
As you may have guessed from the name, this is a service that tips solely at Betfair SP. That means no worrying about whether you will obtain the advised prices or having bookie accounts restricted etc.
We often refer to it as the “holy grail” of betting to find a tipster that is profitable at BSP. There are a few of them out there thankfully (see our list of top horse racing tipsters here for examples), but very few that are actually built around tipping at BSP.
That is where this tipster comes in and their record to date looks very promising. They have been proofing to Betting Gods for over a year, which is an extensive proofing period, and the total profit made to date stands at just under 200 points.
The return on investment has been excellent at over 33% whilst the strike rate is pretty good too, also at 33%.
Most of the bets are in the win market but there are a few in the place market as well.
Out of 14 months so far, 13 have been profitable which is very impressive consistency.
There is currently an offer to get the first month for just 99p, but we understand it is due to close very soon.
In any event, we are looking forward to getting this trial underway as it is rare to find an opportunity like this of a tipster that is based around tipping at BSP.
As ever results will be updated here as we go along so you can see how they are getting on.
