Tom Nelson Racing Full Review

So we have come to the end of our trial of Tom Nelson Racing and we finished with a nice additional 22 points of profit to conclude the trial at +122 points in profit and +60 points at Betfair SP.

This has been one of those very smooth trials that went into profit early on and has just steadily built during the trial, just what we like to see.

Here are the results in graph format:

Tom Nelson Graph

As you can see, a nice jump at the beginning and then just solid, steady growth.

The return on investment was a very strong 27%, which when tipping at the volume that Tom does with so many bets a day, is quite a feat.

The strike rate for the trial was 32%, which is also very healthy and means losing runs should be relatively short when following this service.

Overall it has been an excellent trial and this is definitely a product we would recommend.

However, as you will note from the results above, there was a huge difference between the results at advised prices and Betfair SP.

In fact, the results at advised prices were more than twice as good as those at Betfair SP – well beyond what we would normally expect. For other services we have reviewed like Master Racing Tipster and Big Race Bookie Busters, we saw slightly over a 30% difference, which we felt was acceptable. But a 100% difference is a worrying amount in our opinion.

So we decided to delve into the availability of prices a little further…

Price Availability

When we see such a big difference between the advised prices and Betfair SP, the question that it raises for us is whether the advised prices are obtainable.

For a service to be practical to follow, you need to be able to get close to the advised prices. If there isn’t much difference between Betfair SP and advised prices, it means that everyone can get close to advised prices and the service is practical to follow.

If there is a big difference, it can mean one of two things: firstly, it could be a Hugh Taylor or Pricewise situation where prices are absolutely hammered as soon as the tips are released and the services aren’t really practical to follow – or it can mean that prices are fairly available, but that the tipster is good at identifying value so prices are steadily getting pushed in during the day in the run up to the race.

So what was the case here?

Well to answer that question, we decided to record a sample of over 100 bets (106 to be precise), taking the best available prices one hour after the tips were sent out.

Taking prices an hour after the tips are sent should give everyone enough time to back the selections and mean we are recording a fair price and not just grabbing the best prices in a mad dash as soon as the tips are released.

You can see the full results of our study here.

In summary, the average advised price was 3.75 and the average best price available one hour after tips were sent out was 3.66 – so just a 2.4% difference.

This was very reassuring and would lead us to the conclusion that this service is practical to follow and you just need to take the prices within an hour of tips being sent out and you should be fine.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: There are 5 bets per day on average so there is quite a bit of work to be done here. In accordance with our price analysis above, you need to back the tips with the bookies within an hour of tips being sent out to maximise the service. Simply backing at Betfair SP will mean missing a huge quantity of value. So we would say allocating 20 to 30 minutes per day to shopping around and finding the best odds is needed.

Availability of prices: Please see the “Price Availability” analysis above.

Strike rate: The strike rate for the trial was 32%, which was very impressive and made it comfortable to follow.

Advised Betting Bank: We are pleased to see that a 200 betting bank is advised for following this service, which is much more sensible than one or two of the other Betting Gods services such as Big Race Bookie Busters. It was never threatened during the trial and looking at historical results, should be more than sufficient to withstand the drawdowns.

Subscription costs: The subscription costs are £1 for the first month then £29.95/per month or £69.95/quarter – which are pretty reasonable for a service that has amassed over 500 points profit in around 18 months.

OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED

It has been a very impressive trial for Tom Nelson Racing and we are happy to thoroughly recommend this service.

The only caveat is that you should able to back the tips within an hour of them being sent out – tips are normally sent out between 5 and 6pm UK time.

With over 500 points profit amassed in just over 18 months, this is one of the top tipsters we have reviewed so far and well worth adding to your portfolio.

Tom Nelson Racing – Results Update

6th November 2015

More excellence from Tom Nelson, who has added more profit to his totals since our last update a couple of weeks ago.

He has added another 28 points profit at advised prices taking him to over 100 points profit overall for our trial, which is very impressive stuff.

You can view full results here.

However, we are noticing quite a significant difference opening up between the advised prices and the Betfair SP. Whilst at advised prices Tom has made 28 points profit since out last update, at Betfair SP he has made just 5 points.

That puts him up to 62 points profit at Betfair SP, which is still very impressive, but is quite a significant difference between that the advised prices, equating to a 40% difference.

So it is something to be aware of anyway. The prices given in the e-mails do seem quite obtainable, but we will be keeping a closer eye on this for the remainder of the trial.

In the meantime you can check out Tom Nelson Racing here.

Tom Nelson Racing – Results Update

22nd October 2015

Tom Nelson continues his creditable start to our trial with a further 16 points profit at advised prices and 10 points at Betfair SP.

That brings the totals to the trial so far to:

Advised prices: +76 points

Betfair SP: +57 points

You can view full results here.

Interestingly Tom tips at a whole range of prices, everything from very short odds like 1.1 up to around the 12/1 mark. I suppose the old adage that something can be value at any price, not just long shots, applies here.

We remarked last time that the staking had gone down from 5-6 points per bet to more like 1-2 points. Well now it is somewhere in between the two!

Not quite sure what to make of the staking, I suppose much like the prices, Tom takes quite a varied approach to his betting.

Well so far it is working. Let’s see if it continues for the remainder of the trial.

In the meantime, you can check out Tom Nelson Racing here.

Tom Nelson Racing – Results Update

29th September 2015

It’s been an excellent start to our trial of Tom Nelson Racing. After three weeks he is 60 points up at advised prices and 46 points up at Betfair SP.

You can view full results here.

Staking is quite high however, so it is perhaps not quite as good as it sounds. At the start of the trial there were regular 5 and 6 point bets, although over the last week or so staking has been much lower with just 1-2 point bets in general.

It will be interesting to see if this is a change in staking approach or just a quiet period.

Either way though it has been a very positive start and long may it continue.

Back soon with more updates.

Tom Nelson Racing – New Review

9th September 2015

Today we are starting a new trial of horse racing tipster Tom Nelson Racing from the Betting Gods stable.

Tom has been tipping for just over a year and in that time has produced over 400 points profit – not too shabby!

With a high strike rate of 37%, hopefully losing runs shouldn’t be too bad with this service. There are about 60-70 bets per month, so we are looking at 2-3 per day on average.

The return on investment stands at 8.39%, which isn’t as high as some of the other Betting Gods services, but it looks like Mr Nelson focuses more on a good turnover and strike rate to amass his profits.

Anyway, we will run our normal three month trial to see how this one performs.

In the meantime you can check out Tom Nelson Racing here.

Elite Ratings System – Final Review

We have come to the end of our trial of Elite Ratings System and here are the final results:

Profit/loss:  -16.4 points
Strike Rate:  22%
Bank Growth:  -16%
Cost:  £35.94/month or £71.88/quarter
ROI:  -2%
Average number of tips:  5 per day
VERDICT:  NEUTRAL
Rating:

Elite Ratings System Full Review

Sadly after being in profit for most of our trial, things took a decided turn for the worst for Elite Ratings System towards the end and they ended up in slight deficit at the conclusion of our 3 month testing period.

That means that after over 460 bets, they have finished 16 points down at advised prices and 24 points down at Betfair SP.

You can see how things went south for them after the half way point, made a nice rebound but then fell downwards again to finish in the red:

Elite Ratings System Profit Graph

It was no disaster however, as using a 100 point bank that equates to just a 16% loss of the bank. And to be fair to them, they did hit a lot of second places in the last few weeks, so things could easily have been better.

Perhaps we just hit them at the wrong time, as Stuart who runs the service said this is the worst run they’ve been on since they started.

However, we can only judge a service on what it achieves whilst we are following it, so on that basis it has been a little disappointing to finish in a loss.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: Quite a demanding service to follow as there are 5 bets per day on average. If you are pressed for time it might be best to just use Betfair to back the selections.

Availability of prices: Pretty good, there was certainly no stampede for prices and we were able to obtain prices fairly comfortably. There wasn’t much difference between the advised price results and Betfair SP results (just 8 points difference over 464 bets), so that seems to confirm that prices are obtainable.

Strike rate: The strike rate for the trial was 22% – which is a little lower than expected and for what would be needed to make a profit from this one.

Advised Betting Bank: A betting bank was not advised but we used a 100 point bank for the trial, which seemed adequate based on past results and proved so during the trial, as it was never close to being threatened.

Subscription costs: The costs aren’t too bad at £35.94 per month or £71.88 per quarter.

OVERALL VERDICT: NEUTRAL

We had high hopes coming into the trial of Elite Ratings System as it had amassed 800 points of profit in less than 2 years according to the results on the website and there were people claiming to have nearly paid off their mortgages by following the selections.

Well perhaps they had quite a small mortgage, or were betting with large stakes, but it certainly gave you the feeling this service had great potential.

It is also the first service we have reviewed that uses software to generate selections, so was a novelty in that sense.

And after a strong start, we thought we were on to something special here.

But sadly things hit the buffers in the last third of the trial and they have continued to struggle since our trial ended.

A loss of 16 points – which equated to just 16% of the bank – is certainly no disaster though so we feel a neutral rating is justified for Elite Ratings System.

It is one to keep an eye on to see if the recent dip in form is just a blip and they return to the form of old or whether a more permanent malaise has set in.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Results Update

24th October 2015

Unfortunately things have taken a real downturn for Elite Ratings System since our last update. They have dropped 26 points at advised prices and a whopping 46 points at Befair SP.

That leaves the totals so far for the trial at:

Total Profit/Loss (advised prices): +17 points

Total Profit/Loss (Betfair SP): +2 points

You can view full results here.

So still in profit on both measures, but disappointing to have seen a good deal of the profit accumulated early on being given back.

Plenty of time left in the trial though, so nothing to panic over yet.

Back soon with more updates.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Results Update

3rd October 2015

It is more positive news for Elite Ratings System, with more profits added since our last update.

At advised prices they have added a further 15 points profit and at Betfair SP a further 4 points.

So that brings the totals for the trial so far to:

Total Profit/Loss (advised prices): +43 points

Total Profit/Loss (Betfair SP): +48 points

You can view full results here.

So a bit of a narrowing between the advised prices and Betfair SP, but the latter still stays ahead.

There is a lot to like about this service and we are very impressed with the results so far. Let’s hope they can continue in the same vein.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Results Update

19th September 2015

It has been an interesting time for Elite Ratings System since our last update, with a bit of a discrepancy between the results at advised prices and Betfair SP.

However, it probably isn’t in the way you would expect – it’s actually the Betfair SP that has done better, with less than one point lost since our last update two weeks ago, compared to the advised priced that have lost 19 points.

That means overall the results are as follows:

Total Profit/Loss (advised prices): +28 points

Total Profit/Loss (Betfair SP): +44 points

You can view full results here.

Overall we are impressed with this service so far, it looks very promising. We are only a month into our trial though so plenty of time to go.

It will be interesting to see if they can retain the strong results at Betfair SP as well, that would be a real bonus.

Back soon with more updates.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Results Update

3rd September 2015

A great start to our trial of Elite Ratings System, which in less than two weeks has racked up 47 points of profit at advised prices and 44 points of profit at Betfair SP.

You can view full results here.

Always good to see the advised prices and Betfair SP results being very similar, that is encouraging. Hopefully it will continue like that for the rest of the trial.

This is a high volume service, with generally 6-8 bets per pay. The bets are normally given out the night before racing or early in the morning though, so there is plenty of time to place the bets.

So a great start – this looks very promising.

Back soon with more updates!

Elite Ratings System – New Review

21st August 2015

I got an e-mail this morning asking me if I would like to make £300 per month. I think it was a rhetorical question, but was intrigued by the possibility so decided to investigate further.

The system that promised me this useful little extra income is called Elite Ratings System and is software that claims to be able to “predict tomorrow’s winners with such accuracy that you can now fleece the bookmakers without needing to be part of an illegal race-fixing syndicate.”

Now I hadn’t actually considered becoming part of an illegal race-fixing syndicate (how do you do that by the way?) but am interested in testing the claims of this software nonetheless.

So we have signed up to trial the Elite Ratings System for 3 months and will record the results exactly as they are given out.

The results published on the website are very impressive, with over 700 points profit since the system started in January 2014 and a very steady profit graph.

The bets are mainly sent out the evening before racing, with a points system of between 1 and 3 points per selection.

There are a good number of selections each day – apart from Sunday which is their day off.

Let’s see if this one can live up to its bold sales page and deliver us nice steady profits in the next three months.

We will provide regular updates on its progress, but in the meantime you can check out Elite Ratings System here.

The Win Picker – Final Review

We have completed our trial of The Win Picker and here are the final results:

Profit/loss: -9 points
Strike Rate: 32%
Bank Growth: -9%
Cost: £20 for 100 days
ROI: -5%
Average number of tips: 2 per day
VERDICT: NEUTRAL
Rating:

You can view full results here.

The Win Picker Full Review

We have come to the end of our trial of The Win Picker and it has unfortunately not picked quite enough winners.

The service has finished 9 points down, which is certainly no disaster and represents just a 9% loss of the 100 point bank we used, but fails to live up to the results claimed on the website prior to the trial.

On the plus side, all selections are given at Betfair SP so there is the possibility of beating the published results if you shopped around and used best odds guaranteed bookies.

They did have quite a few seconds during the trial as well, so things could have turned out better with a bit more luck.

Anyway, here are the results for the trial in graph format:

Win Picker Results Graph

Win Picker Results Graph

As you can see, it was in profit for most of the trial but then nosedived just at the end with a run of losers.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: Very good, just two bets per day and all selections can simply be backed at Betfair SP.

Availability of prices: Excellent – as above, results are recorded at Betfair SP so you are guaranteed achieving the same results as those published.

Strike rate: The strike rate for the trial was reasonably good at 32% – probably just needs to be a little higher in the long run to achieve sustained profit growth.

Advised Betting Bank: A betting bank was not advised but we used a notional 100 point bank, which was more than sufficient and with a 32% strike rate should be comfortable to cover drawdowns.

Subscription costs: Good value at £20 for 100 days.

OVERALL VERDICT: NEUTRAL

A final total of -9 points for the trial was disappointing, given the results published on the website for the period prior to the trial and that they were in profit for the most of the trial only to nosedive at the end.

However, it was certainly no disaster, and could have been better had there not been a whole host of second place finishes during the trial.

All results are published at Betfair SP, so there is also the possibility of beating those results with a bit of work.

Given these mitigating factors, we feel a neutral rating is a fair verdict for The Win Picker. Just need to pick a few more winners and few less seconds and this could be a profitable service.

We will keep a watching brief for now.

You can check out the Win Picker here.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Results Update

6th October 2015

It continues to be very quiet for the Win Picker. They are just trotting along at the moment and can’t seem to get into a cantor, let alone a gallop.

Since our last update they have dropped a couple of points to stand at 6 points up overall for the trial so far.

You can view full results here.

There is a lot to like about this service – very simple to follow, all bets at Betfair SP and a good strike rate. It is still in profit for the trial, so certainly nothing to complain about here. But nothing to get too excited about either so far.

We have about 3 weeks left in the trial so let’s see if they can push on and finish with a flourish.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Results Update

16th September 2015

Still pretty quiet times for the Win Picker, dropping just a couple of points since our last update on the 5th September.

That means they are now 8 points up overall since the start of our trial about seven weeks ago.

You can view full results here.

They have continued to be unlucky however, with a whole host of seconds lately, including one of today’s runners.

Things could be a good deal better with just a little bit of fortune, so hopefully the luck will turn and we will see an uplift in results soon.

We do consider this to be quite a promising service as it is very simple to operate and with results recorded at Betfair SP there is no chance of missing prices etc.

Back soon with further updates.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

The Win Picker – Results Update

5th September 2015

The Win Picker has rather trod water since our last update a couple of weeks ago.

They were 10 points up at the time of our last update and are still 10 points up now – well, 9.65 points up to be exact.

You can view full results here.

There is a bit of a sense that they have been unlucky, with quite a few second place finishes lately.

Hopefully things will pick up now for the Win Picker. Further updates to follow soon.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

The Win Picker – Results Update

25th August 2015

We are just under a month into our trial of The Win Picker so time for an update on how things are going.

So far the service is 10 points up, so a steady start.

You can view full results here.

All selections are advised at Betfair SP, which means not only can you match the published results but it is super easy to follow and takes very little time to back the selections.

Prices are generally at the lower end of the spectrum at around the 4.0 mark, although some have been as low as 1.1 and some as high as 9.

So we are off to a solid start in the first month and let’s see if things continue in the same vein for the remainder of the trial.

In the meantime you can check out The Win Picker here.

Value Racing Tips – Final Review

Please note this service has been discontinued.

—————————————————————————————————————–

We have completed our three month trial of Value Racing Tips and here are the final results:

Profit/loss: +64 points
Strike Rate: 23%
Bank Growth: 128%*
Cost: 30 day trial for £1 then £49.95/month or £119.95/quarter
ROI: 26%
Average number of tips: 2.5 per day
VERDICT: PASSED
Rating:

*based on advised bank of 50 points. We recommend a bank of at least 100 points.

Value Racing Tips Final Review

At the end of our trial of Value Racing tips we are pleased to report that it has been a successful trial, achieving 64 points profit at advised prices and 46 points at Betfair SP.

The return on investment for the trial was a very impressive 26% and the strike rate a solid 23%.

The profit growth was pretty steady during the trial, as you can see from the graph below:

Value Racing Tips Profit Graph

Value Racing Tips Profit Graph

As you can see, a slight false start at the beginning but from then on it was very positive growth with a real jump towards the end.

The nice thing about this service is that all tips are simply 1 point win bets, so no crazy staking systems that you see with some other tipsters.

It’s easy to follow too with 2-3 tips per day and selections normally sent out the evening before racing, so plenty of time to get the bets on.

Looking at the longer-term results, the service has shown a high level of consistency, making over 350 points profit since its inception in November 2013. That means you would have made over £3,500 if backing to just £10 stakes or £35,000 if backing at £100 stakes.

There has only really been one period of drawdown during the lifetime of the service, which was in the Spring of this year. Otherwise it is just been steady profit growth all the way.

Our only slight concern is the bank size suggested by the service. We recently had issues with two other Betting Gods services – Big Race Bookie Busters and Serve It Up Tennis Tips – losing or virtually losing entire banks whilst we have been following them.

Well here you are advised to use a 50 point bank, but if you had joined on 9th March this year you would have lost that entire bank and more, as they dropped 57 points between then and 8th May.

So we would recommend at least a 100 point bank – or even 150 points if you wanted to be on the really safe side.

Other than that, we think this is an excellent service and as long as you use a sufficient bank this has great potential to make consistent long-term profits.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: Fairly good – with 2-3 bets per day there is a little bit of work to do but as bets are normally sent out the evening before racing, there is plenty of time to get the bets on.

Availability of prices: OK – it is usually possible to obtain the advised prices or close to them if you take prices soon after tips are sent out. But even if you just use Betfair SP, the results are still very good, with 46 points profit made during the trial, representing a 28% reduction on the advised prices.

Strike rate: Not bad at 23% – there will be some losing runs and drawdowns with that kind of strike rate, so a little bit of patience will be required.

Advised Betting Bank: They suggest a 50 point bank but given that the service has suffered a 57 point drawdown in the past, that clearly is not enough and with a 23% strike rate it was never going to be. We recommend at least a 100 point bank or even 150 to be on the safe side.

Subscription costs: You can get a 30 day trial for £1 to start the service, then it is £49.95/month, £119.95 per quarter or £279.95 for life.

Although on the face of it the costs seem quite high, to be fair we have seen services charge more than that without having such good track records, so we think the subscription costs are fair.

OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED

It’s been a very good trial here for Value Racing Tips and we are very happy to give this a recommended rating.Horse Racing

Very solid, consistent results over a long period and a simple service to follow – we can’t really ask for more than that.

This service has proven it can do exactly what it says on the tin – find good value bets day in, day out. Sixty-four points profit to 1 point level stakes in 3 months is no mean feat.

Its long-term results show an incredible level of consistency too, with only really one drawdown period since November 2013 and the rest just solid profit growth.

The fact that it also makes good profit at Betfair SP is reassuring, so it is not just about exploiting bookies’ early prices.

As long as you use at least a 100 point bank, we see this one as a solid part of our portfolio and should provide excellent long-term profits.

If you are thinking about dipping you toe in the water before committing to the service then the nice thing is they offer a 30-day trial for just £1.

You can get Value Racing Tips here.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Results Update

4th October 2015

It’s been an encouraging time for Value Racing Tips, who have added another 26 points profit at advised prices and 23 points profit at Betfair SP.

That brings the totals for the trial to date to:

Total profit/loss (advised prices): +65.68 points

Total profit/loss (Betfair SP): +45.76 points

You can view full results here.

With an advised bank of 50 points, that means we have more than doubled the bank at advised prices and nearly doubled it at Betfair SP.

There is a great deal to like about Value Racing Tips, with all tips being 1 point level stakes, plenty of time to get the bets on and a very strong record established over the last two years.

We have just 10 days left in the trial but it looks like this one is heading for the winning systems pile, with bells on!

Check back here for our final review in a couple of weeks’ time.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Results Update

14th September 2015

A fairly quiet time for Value Racing Tips, with 1 point lost at advised prices since out last update on 2nd September.

However, at Betfair SP there has been a loss of 9 points since our last update, so a little bit of a gap is opening up between the advised prices and Betfair SP results.

We are now two months into the trial and here are the totals so far:

Total profit/loss (advised prices): +40.18 points

Total profit/loss (Betfair SP): +22.71 points

You can view full results here.

So still going along nicely and well in profit at both advised prices and Betfair SP, but we will keep an eye on the difference between the two as the trial progresses.

Back soon with more updates.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Value Racing Tips – Results Update

2nd September 2015

The positive run continues for Value Racing Tips, who have added another 16 points profit at advised prices and 13.75 points at Betfair SP since our last update just over a week ago.

So the running totals since the start of the trial are as follows:

Total profit/loss (advised prices): +41.63 points

Total profit/loss (Betfair SP): +32.2 points

You can view full results here.

We are just over half way through the trial now and have nearly doubled the bank, which is very good going. If they can keep up that form for the remainder of the trial we will be looking at something special here.

Will be back with more updates soon.

In the meantime you can check out Value Racing Tips here.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Value Racing Tips – Results Update

23rd August 2015

Things have picked up nicely for Value Racing Tips since our last results update a couple of weeks ago.

They are now 26 points up at advised prices and 18 points up at Betfair SP.

You can view full results here.

There have been some nice winners lately in the shape of Outlaw Kate at 14/1 (20.0 BSP) and Pleasach at York at 7/1.

We are about half way through the review now so will be interesting to see if they can continue this upturn in form and get close to the results achieved by stable companions Master Racing Tipster and Big Race Bookie Busters.

Will be back soon with further updates.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Value Racing Tips – Results Update

11th August 2015

It is just about a month into our trial of Value Racing Tips, and much as with our previous report, it has been slow going so far.

They are currently 1.33 points up at advised prices and -8.52 points down at Betfair SP.

You can view full results here.

So not much to write home about yet, but no disasters either. Just a steady eddy so far.

Let’s hope things pick up from here and they start banging in lots of winners for us.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Value Racing Tips – Results Update

28th July 2015

We are two weeks into our trial of Value Racing Tips and it has been a slow but steady start so far.

They are 3 points up at advised prices and 3 points down at Betfair SP.

You can view full results here.

They got off to a good start, hitting six winners in the first nine bets and going 25 points up in rapid fashion.

However, a run of losers from the 16th to 22nd July put a bit of a dent in the positive start they had enjoyed. So now we are more or less back where we started.

You will notice a bit of a difference in the advised prices and Betfair SP results so far, which we will keep an eye on to make sure it does not become too much of an issue.

We have high hopes for this one as it has amassed over 300 points profit to 1 point level stakes in just over 18 months prior to our trial, which is pretty impressive going.

Anyway, we will continue to update results throughout the trial and let’s hope for a few winners this week at Goodwood – and beyond.

Value Racing Tips – New Review

13th July 2015

Today we are commencing a trial of Value Racing Tips, a horse racing tipster from the Betting Gods stable.

The service has been running since November 2013 and since that time has amassed just under 300 points profit. So that’s £3,000 profit if you’re using £10 per point or £15,000 if you were using £50 per point.

The strike rate is a pretty healthy 22% and the return on investment is also good at 20%.

We have had great success recently with two other Betting Gods tipsters, in the form of Master Racing Tipster and Big Race Bookie Busters, who both smashed our previous records for a 3 month trial and now sit atop our tipster table.

Whether Value Racing Tips can live up to those heady levels remains to be seen, but just good solid profit is all we are looking for really.

Looking at the past results it seems the bet volume is a little higher than the other two services, being around 3 bets per day, but staking looks to be a fixed 1 point level stakes so fairly straightforward from that point of view.

Here’s hoping for a hat-trick of winning services from the Betting Gods stable as we kick off a mid Summer review of Value Racing Tips.

We will update results periodically during the trial, but in the meantime you can check out Value Racing Tips here.

Profit at the Races – Eight Month Update

We now have around 8 months of results for Profit at the Races so we thought it would be a good time for an update.

Here are the monthly totals since our trial finished on 9th June 2015:

Month Profit/loss (points)
June (from 9th onwards) -19
July -3.63
August -20.24
September 7.97
October (to 20th) 9.88
TOTAL -25.02

It has been a disappointing run since the trial ended, with the service dropping 25 points. That means since our trial commenced in March, the service is now 8 points down overall.

Unfortunately we do not think a service that is down after 8 months of proofed results merits a continued place on our winning systems list, so this one is downgraded to a neutral rating.

We do look for services to continue to perform consistently over a long period and to show monthly profit as far as possible.

Regrettably Profit at the Races has had quite a few losing months and with a losing record overall since we started following it about 8 months ago, we feel it leaves us little option but to downgrade the service.

However, a total of 8 points down overall is no disaster and with results recorded at Betfair SP, this is a transparent and simple service to follow.

We therefore consider that a downgrade to a neutral rating is a fair verdict.

OVERALL RATING: NEUTRAL

Profit at the Races Final Review

It’s been a solid trial for Profit at the Races here at Honest Betting Reviews.

At the end of the three month trial period, they have finished 17 points in profit. Any profit is welcome so we are pleased with that, but things were going quite a bit better early on in the trial, reaching nearly 50 points in profit at one stage.

And just after the trial finished, they landed a 25/1 winner (sod’s law I think they call that!) so perhaps we were a little unlucky with timing.

The services focuses solely on All-Weather racing, so selections have been much fewer since the flat season got under way in May and quite a few days there are no selections at all at the moment.

It’s very easy to follow though, with selections being provided in the morning by e-mail and you simply back them all at Betfair SP.

Here is a graph of the performance over the course of the trial:

Profit at the Races Profit Graph

As you can see, it started off in storming fashion, booming up to nearly 50 points profit, before falling all the way back down to zero and then recovering once again to be in profit at the end.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: Very good – bets are provided in the morning (UK time) and you are instructed to place them at Betfair SP, so very quick and easy to follow.

Availability of prices: Very good – as above, the services records results at Betfair SP so you can guarantee getting the same results as they publish.

Strike rate: The strike rate for the trial was 18% so patience will be required to deal with losing runs.

Advised Betting Bank: A 100 point betting bank is advised, which seems reasonable. We were never in deficit during the trial which was good, but with a fairly low strike rate you should expect some losing runs along the way. Our longest losing run during the trial was 22.

Subscription costs: The subscription costs aren’t too bad at £29.99 per month.

OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED

Overall I am pleased with the results of the service. It does exactly what it says on the tin – simple, easy to follow and profitable.

I think we were a little unlucky with timing as just after the trial finished they landed a 25/1 and a 7/1 winner, so results could have been even better.

But as long as they continue to be profitable over the long run then this service warrants a place on our winning systems list.

Racing Gold – Final Review

We have come to the end of our three month trial of Racing Gold and here are the final results:

Profit/loss: +158 points
Strike Rate: 42% (including placed horses)
Bank Growth: 158%*
Cost: £4.99 for first month then £19.95/month, £39.95/quarter or £159.95 for lifetime
ROI: 23%
Average number of tips: 4-5 per day
VERDICT: PASSED
Rating:

Racing Gold Final Review

It has been a superb trial for Racing Gold, who have amassed an excellent 158 points of profit at a return on investment of 23%.

It has been pretty steady and unwavering profit throughout the trial, as you can see from the graph below:

Racing Gold profit graph

Racing Gold profit graph

As you can see, a very nice graph indeed. Things really grew fast early on, then went into a more gradual phase, before a bit of a drawdown and finally a nice rally towards the end.

The steady profit building was punctuated by a couple of superb days in the middle of the trial though.

On 26th July they advised 5 bets, all of which won at combined odds of 498-1. Now they don’t advise you back the tips in accumulators, so we haven’t recorded that accumulator in the official results.

However, we understand some members did back the selections in an acca and were celebrating pretty wildly after that one came in!

As if that wasn’t enough though, on 16th September they went and did it again, landing an even more incredible 1406-1 accumulator with all four selections advised that day winning.

Needless to say if you had backed that one, it was a pretty good day.

Anyway, getting back to the official results, what are our overall thoughts on Racing Gold?

The results have been excellent and we have no hesitation in giving this a hearty thumbs up. Any service that can make 158 points profit in 3 months deserves much acclaim.

With a very healthy strike rate of 42% (including the horses who placed), there is real potential to build a bank with this service.

Upturn in Fortunes

Looking back at the previous results prior to our trial, we are interested to note that things have really picked up in the last 18 months or so.

From when the service started in February 2013 until 15th May 2014, they had made 105 points profit.

Since then however, the service has taken off like a rocket and added 550 points profit to stand at over 650 points in profit in total.

We can’t  verify the results before our trial started, but have no reason to doubt the veracity of the results as those recorded on the website have been exactly as given out in the e-mails since we have been members.

We understand from Tipster Street that there was a slight change of approach that could well explain the upturn in results, as the tipster decided to focus on certain courses and races depending on the time of year. Well, it certainly seems to have worked!

Points to Note

A couple of things to note about this service. Firstly, there was quite a difference between the results at Betfair SP and the advised prices. Whilst the advised prices made 158 points profit, at Betfair SP the total profit was 97 points, which is a 39% difference and a little higher than we would like ideally.

The prices quoted in the e-mails are those available at Betfair in the morning, but there isn’t great liquidity on Betfair at the time so you would probably be better off using the bookies prices.

Again we asked Tipster Street about this and they said they understand the liquidity isn’t always in the Betfair markets early in the morning, but the tipster does try to select races where there is better liquidity than certain other races. However they said they are considering a new pricing structure, so “watch this space” as it were!

A second thing to note regards the advised bank size to be used. With the recent debacle surrounding Big Race Bookie Busters – where a full 100 point bank was blown shortly after we gave them a recommended verdict – we are keenly aware of the need to ensure bank sizes are big enough to cope with the drawdowns and losing runs.

Although they recommend a 100 point bank for this service, it has actually endured an 81 point drawdown in its past, between September and November 2013.

We therefore think a bank of at least 150 points should be used and preferably 200 points to be on the safe side.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: Fairly good – there is a little bit of work to do on your part, as there are on average 4-5 selections per day. You can just back all these at Betfair SP, but to maximise value it is worth spending some time shopping around the bookies for the best price.

Availability of prices: OK – as above, there is not much liquidity on Betfair in the mornings so best to shop around the bookies, where prices are generally fairly readily available.

Strike rate: Very good at 42% – that means lots of winners, shorter losing runs than most servies and the potential to build a bank relatively quickly.

Advised Betting Bank: As above – 100 points is advised but we think a 150 or preferably 200 point bank should be used.

Subscription costs: Excellent value for a service of this quality at just £4.99 for first month then £19.95/month, £39.95/quarter or £159.95 for lifetime

Some services of this quality charge upwards of £1,000 per year, so this is great value for a tipster with a track record like this one.

OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED

This has been a great trial and we are delighted to place Racing Gold on our approved list – with bells on!

They have amassed 158 points profit at advised prices and just under 100 points at Betfair SP, which is a great effort in three months.

The longer term results of the service are also very impressive, with 550 points profit made in the last 18 months. How many horse racing tipsters do you know with that record? We would wager not very many.

Plus how many services out there can boast two accumulators at 500-1 and 1400-1 in less than three months?

And all that  profit is with a simple 1 or 2 points staking system and over 40% strike rate.

Added to an amazingly low subscription rate and we believe we have uncovered a real gem here with Racing Gold.

So as long as you use at least a 150 point bank and spend a little time shopping around for the best prices each morning, we believe you will struggle to find many better tipsters than this.

You can get Racing Gold here.

Big Race Bookie Busters – Six Month Update

It has been six months now that we have been following Big Race Bookie Busters so we thought time for an update.

Sadly the news it not good. In fact, it’s very bad.

You may recall that Big Race Bookie Busters (or BRBB for short) racked up a hugely impressive 195 points of profit during our trial which ended in June (see below).

Well unfortunately since then the service has done its best impression of Charlie Sheen in Terminal Velocity and taken a spectacular nosedive.

Here are the results since our trial ended on 26th June 2015 in graph format:

Big Race Bookie Busters Profit Graph

BRBB since 26th June 2015

That represents a 94 point loss and with a 100 point bank advised, it is nothing short of a disaster. If you had joined a bit later in July or August at certain points, you could have lost the entire bank.

Now that is tough to take and we were backing their tips with our own money, so felt this just as keenly as anyone else.

Of course the overall picture for BRBB is that they are still over 300 points up since the service started under a year ago, which is impressive.

But the loss of the full 100 point bank is something no service should experience. It goes without saying that the advised bank was way too small and we think the advised bank should be at least 200 points, if not 250 points given the recent drawdown.

That would put the overall results into a bit of a clearer perspective, with the service having more than doubled that 250 point bank in under a year and having experienced a 40% drawdown during that period.

So the question then becomes:

Does this service still deserve its approved rating and 5 stars?

Well clearly not the 5-star rating, that will have to be revised downwards.

Overall, it is always best to take a long-term view of betting and not to judge any service on a short period like a couple of months.

Since the start of our review, they are still over 100 points up, which is good.

However, we appreciate that anyone who has joined this service since our trial finished at the end of June will have lost their entire bank and no doubt given up by now – perhaps rightly.

No service should ever come close to losing its entire bank – normally that would be an automatic fail for us.

So with these two conflicting points of view, we think a downgrade to a neutral rating and 3 stars is the only fair conclusion.

We believe that for the service to regain its credibility, it should revise the advised bank to 250 points and this should be sent out to all new and existing members.

It may seem a little harsh to give a service that has produced 100 points profit a neutral rating, but we believe that it is crucial that the correct bank sizes are advised and this will serve as a warning to this and all other services to make sure this aspect is carefully looked at.

Conclusion

The wheels have come off in spectacular fashion for BRBB and it has been a painful experience for all those following their tips over the last three months. The advised bank should have been much higher than 100 points – we believe 250 points would be reasonable.

So it is a downgrade to a neutral rating and 3 stars, with a note that hopefully a more realistic bank will be advised for future subscribers to this service.

RATING: NEUTRAL

We have come to the end of our three month trial of Big Race Bookie Busters and here are the final results:

Profit/loss: +195 points
Strike Rate: 35% (incl. placed horses)
Bank Growth: 195%

Big Race Bookie Busters Final Review

It has been an excellent three month trial for Big Race Bookie Busters, amassing a fantastic 195 points profit and nearly trebling the bank over the course of the trial.

That means if you had started off with £1,000, it would be worth £2,950 now.

Even at Betfair SP they managed 134 points profit and 134% growth of the bank, which is pretty exceptional.

We thought when Banker Bets nearly doubled the bank over the course of a trial it might never be beaten.

But now we have both Master Racing Tipster and Big Race Bookie Busters smashing their records and setting a new benchmark for tipping.

It’s a very simple service to follow – you normally have just one or two bets per day and as the name suggests, these tend to be in the big races. Tips are provided for both flat and national hunt racing.

There are detailed write-ups for the selections and you can see the thinking behind the tips. It is a traditional form-based approach, focusing on horses with a range of factors in their favour for the race.

During our trial they managed a superb 50% return on investment (ROI) and their long-term returns stand at just shy of 60%.

That is phenomenal going and we have rarely seen such impressive figures from a tipster. It will be tough to maintain these ROI levels in the long run but as long as they keep up the consistent profits then that is the main thing.

Here is a graph of their performance over the trial:

Big Race Bookie Busters Profit Graph

As you can see, they set off like a steam train and then continued to make steady profits throughout the trial.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: Good – there are on average 1.5 bets per day so minimal work on the part of the subscriber.

Availability of prices: OK – the tips do tend to get backed in, as evidenced by the 31% difference between results at advised prices and those at Betfair SP.

However, if you act reasonably quickly it is not impossible to get the advised prices or close to them. And even if you do just back at Betfair SP, the service still made 134 points profit over our trial, which is very good going.

Strike rate: The strike rate for the trial was good at 35% – that’s if you include placed horses – or 15% if you talk only about winners.

Advised Betting Bank: They advise a 100 point bank, which seems just about OK. The staking ranges between 1 and 6 points for each selection, with the average being just under 3, so is quite high. If you are of the more cautious mindset you may want a 150 point bank just to be on the safe side.

Subscription costs: The subscription costs are very good for a service of this quality at £4.95 for the first month then £29.95 per month, £74.95 per quarter or £199.95 for life.

OVERALL VERDICT: PASSED

It’s been a fantastic trial for Big Race Bookie Busters and there’s very little not to like about this service – simple to follow and consistent profits at a very reasonable cost.

To have nearly trebled the bank in three months is an outstanding achievement and they deserve great credit for that.

This one definitely goes on our approved list and we have no hesitation in recommending it. Get on board if you want to bust the bookies too!

The Win Picker – New Review

Today we are starting a new trial of a horse racing tipster called The Win Picker.

This is a straightforward tipping service that provides on average 2-3 tips per day, to be placed at Betfair SP.

We always like services that advise bets simply at Betfair SP, as it means that everyone knows they can match the results, so that is already a plus in our book.

They also back all selections to 1 point level stakes, another positive in our view.

The sales page boasts excellent results since the service started in January of this year.

They claim to have had no losing months and to have amassed £3,239.91 in 2015 to £25 stakes, including deducting 5% commission from Betfair.

The service is run by a guy called Kevin Butler who says he has honed his technique over many years, although he doesn’t give away too many secrets about what his selection criteria is.

To get things going they are offering a generous offer of £20 for 100 days of tips – which is just enough for us to complete a full review. 🙂

We actually started receiving the tips from 27th July 2015 so we will record results from then.

If the results during our trial can match those on the sales page, we should be in for a treat.

We will provide regular updates throughout the trial on how this one gets on.

In the meantime, you can check out The Win Picker here.

Racing Professionals Flat Service – Final Review

It is the end of our three month trial of the Racing Professionals Flat service and here are the final results:

Profit/loss: -132 points

ROI: -36%
Average number of tips: 4 per day
VERDICT: FAILED

Racing Professionals Flat Service Final Review

Well at the end of our trial of the Racing Professionals Flat Service, what can we say – other than it has been something of a sorry story for them over the last three months.

Sadly they have ended up with a 132 point deficit and have lost 88% of the advised bank.

They do rely somewhat on picking some big priced winners, with past results showing winners at 100/1 and above, so they are perhaps just one big winner away from turning things around.

Unfortunately though, we can only judge a service on what is has achieved during our trial and with an 88% loss of the bank, it has been a disappointing run.

Certainly we would suggest that on the basis of this trial, a 150 point bank is not nearly enough and 300 points or more would be appropriate.

You should never get this close to losing your entire bankroll, although we suspect in reality after a drawdown like this most people would have stopped following the tips in any event.

Anyway, here are the results in graph format:

Racing Professionals Flat Service Profit Graph

It’s been one way traffic – unfortunately the wrong way – for the majority of the trial.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: Very good – the tips are sent out by e-mail early in the morning and then all bets are simply placed at Betfair SP, so very quick to operate.

Availability of prices: As above, with all bets placed at Betfair SP, there are no issues around price availability.

Strike rate: With the strike rate for the trial down at just 10%, it was clearly well below the expected level for the service to make a profit.

Advised Betting Bank: The advised bank was 150 points, which was clearly not enough as we lost 132 points and 88% of the bank. We would think a 300 point bank would be needed given the drawdown experienced during our trial.

Subscription costs: The subscription costs are high at £44.99 per month.

OVERALL VERDICT: FAILED

There doesn’t seem to be any other possible verdict than failed with a 132 point loss and 88% bank decline.

This trial has shown once again that it is no easy ride making money in this game and some long losing runs can hit anyone, whatever their experience and level of expertise.

Hopefully they will hit a nice 100/1 winner soon and get back on track, but for the moment this one has to be added to the failed systems pile.

Lucky 7 Naps Final Review

One of the things we pay most attention to when reviewing a service is ensuring that it is practical to follow for you good folk who read our reviews.

There is no point in a service achieving fantastic results at their advised prices, only for you to sign up and find out you can’t get anything like the advised prices and struggle to make a profit.

Well sadly in the case of Lucky 7 Naps, that has been exactly the scenario.

Whilst they have made a startling 449 points profit at advised prices, they have in fact made an 80 point loss at Betfair SP.

Now normally we would expect there to be a bit of a difference between advised prices and Betfair SP results. We would say a 25-35% difference would be acceptable.

Looking at two recent successful reviews for example, Master Racing Tipster and Big Race Bookie Busters, there was a 32% and 31% difference respectively between their advised prices and Betfair SP results.

In the case of Lucky 7 Naps however, the difference is over 100%! That’s because the Betfair SP is a minus number so we are talking about a minus percentage!

We are not mathematicians, but let’s just say the difference is over 100% and basically means the service has made a substantial loss at Betfair SP, meaning we don’t think the service is practical to follow at Betfair SP.

Here are the Betfair SP results in graph format anyway:

Lucky 7 Naps Profit Graph

As you can see, after a good start, it went quite steeply into negative territory and despite a rally late on, still ended up 80 points down.

So if you exclude backing at Betfair SP, what about trying to match the advised prices?

Well unfortunately we found that incredibly difficult as well. Often prices would crash as soon as the e-mail containing the tips was sent out.

By the time we had logged onto Oddschecker, found the best price, logged into the relevant bookie and found the race, the price would have crashed. In some cases it would have halved in just a few minutes.

As the comments below by some of our readers suggests, that is very frustrating and we found this service a trying one to follow to say the least.

We are not sure if prices crash because the service is so popular, because bookies slash the prices as soon as they see the e-mail, or whether the tips are due to information being passed on and the insiders have already backed the tips. But whatever the reason, the prices were simply unobtainable the majority of the time.

At advised prices, we just about broke even over the trial – and that involved a lot of work just to achieve that.

Service Breakdown

Ease of use: As above – quite tough. Leaving aside the aforementioned problem with prices, there are on average 4.6 bets per day, so you will be quite busy placing the bets and finding the best prices before they disappear.

Availability of prices: As we have said, very poor. Prices tend to crash very quickly and we found often as soon as we had logged into our bookie accounts after receiving the e-mail. Expect 30-50% drops in prices quite regularly.

Strike rate: The strike rate during the trial was 25%, which was ok and about in line with the long-term results we believe.

Advised Betting Bank: The advised bank was 300 points, which seems reasonable as staking is normally 5 points per bet. As Betfair SP the bank reduced by 27% over the trial.

Subscription costs: The subscription costs are high at £28.50 per week, £66 per month or £133.50 per quarter.

OVERALL VERDICT: NEUTRAL

This is a difficult service to give an overall verdict on.

On the one hand, we were tempted to give it a failed rating, based on the 80 point loss at Betfair SP and the frustrations at trying to get the prices matched.

However, to be fair if you really tried hard you might just have eeked out a profit during the period we conducted our trial, if you were really on the ball and acted the very second you received the e-mail.

In reality, we expect most people would have done as we did and broke even or made a small loss.

So whilst we cannot recommend this service and found it difficult to follow, we do not believe it deserves an outright fail either.

We believe only services that make a big loss at all price levels should receive a failed rating and this one didn’t do that.

So on balance a neutral rating seems the fairest verdict, but with a substantial health warning that prices are very difficult to obtain.

If you fancy chancing your arm, you can check out Lucky 7 Naps here
